If you can find a good donor car, you can cut that section out and replace it.

Best option is to replace the quarter panel.

sand it down and see how deep the rust is, and if its not too bad, then bondo it, but if its really bad then cut the section off a donor car or replace the quarter panel.

No sanding needed, that rust is right through the panel. Probably the only quick fix would fiberglass, bondo alone is not an option. The right way to do it would be a new quarter or at least a rust free quarter from a donor car. I have the same problem on my Iroc right now, just no money to fix it yet.

Make that 2 new quarters, didn't realize you were showing both sides.

MY ADVICE

IS TO HEAD TO WALMART AUTO SECTION. THEY HAVE A SMALL AREA WITH SPRAY PAINT AND BONDO, ETC.

FIND THE RUST REMOVER. AROUND $5 AND ITS' A CLEAR THICK "PASTE" THAT YOU PAINT ON. 30+ MINUTES LATER, THE RUST COMES OFF. MIGHT TAKE 2-3 ATTEMPTS TO GET YOUR RUST OFF BUT IT SHOULD TO A PRETTY GOOD JOB. THE REMAINING RUST YOU CAN STEEL BRUSH OFF OR SAND.

UNTIL YOU GET THE RUST REMOVED, YOU CAN'T DETERMINE IF THE WHOLE PIECE HAS TO BE REMOVED OR NOT.

THE CORRECT WAY TO DO THIS IF YOUR LOOKING FOR RE-SALE VALUE IS TO CUT IT ALL OUT. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A BODYSHOP CUT THAT PIECE OUT AND PUT A NEW ONE IN FOR $350.

IF YOU GOT THE CAR YOU LOVE AND RE-SALE ISN'T AN ISSUE, THE FIBERGLASS WORKS GREAT.

That is fixable if you can do body work. The best way to fix it would be to cut out the bad area, weld new metal in, and do your body work. No need to replace a whole quarter....

you could try this if you decide to replace the quarter panels

although you'd have to find someone or a shop to weld em up, cause i dont know the first thing about welding. hope it helps.

Ok, with all the rust on the wheel well and what looks like down by the door and rocker panel, what is it going to look like when you take off the quarter panels? Rust usually starts on the inside and works it way out. I'm not saying its not worth it but be prepared for alot more work to remove the rust underneath the quarter panel. I've done rust repair for many years and it is always way more work than it looks like from the outside. Just my opinion.

I have the same problem with my car, the body shop that i go to said the same thing that rosco88ta said, about the rust coming from the inside. So basically if you dont have access to a welder i wouldnt even try messing around with it, just bring it to someone who knows how to do it, cuz bondo wont help it

Your problem is that you live in Chicago. If you get a new quarter, it will look just like that one in a couple of years.

Remove the back seat, inner panels and carpet. You may also find rust inside the car along the rear wheel well body seams.

I notice that when i look at it from inside the car the whole quarter panel is rusty and you can even see outside from looking at it. I think for right now i will try to us fiber glass bondo and see what i can do but in the future I will get a donor quarter panals. About 5 years ago the quarter panals look perfect and now driving it all year around in chicago it taken a beaten.
