simple question to answer... simple yes or no!
i'm wondering if i can fit the 91-92 Z28 spoiler onto a 86 iroc?
i kinda figured that there wasn't any difference in the width of the car since it's still a third gen. i hope it'll work i found one for only $100!

Simple answer: no.
Complex answer: yes, if you don't mind filling the holes in the quarter panel, and either filling and redrilling the holes in the deck lid, or replacing the deck lid entirely.

to put things rather bluntly the wing will fit the car as far as width goes but it won't bolt to the same holes as the factory 86 spoiler so you're going to have to repair the old holes with bondo or a patch and drill new ones for the new spoiler.

I put one on my 88. Mods are needed. My 88 had the shorty wing on it so I didnt have the holes on sides of 1/4 panel to fill in, just the ones on the hatch.
You will have to drill new holes on hatch for the 91 spolier, and fill in the old ones. It's not that hard really.

I didn't have a mig welder at the time so I filled my holes using an old 70's body work trick that has worked great.. grind around hole you want to fill, dimple/dent the hole inwards a tad with a hammer and punch, back the hole with something (duct tape in my case) then fill hole with bondo.
Don't just glob body filler in though. Do each hole in 2-3 steps. 1st bondo to fill most part of hole. Let it setup, then sand it with 40 to 60 grit, add more bondo to get hole filled, let it setup, sand with same girt. Apply more bondo this time cover hole and spot around hole, thinning the bondo out as you move away from hole. Cut the filler down with rough paper then sand smooth with finer grit.
I did that almost 2 years ago and still holding up great.

Dont bondo the holes.
Cut out some sheetmetal filler holes. Tac weld em in all around dont try and run a bead. Grind the tac welds smooth and then sue a skim coat of filler. It will last 10x longer.
