Sand-blasting a car
Any one have any suggestions on sand blasting a car? Is it the best way to get all rust and such off a car..how much does it cost? will it mess up the mechanics of the car stripping it down to the frame? I also have a leak that leaks in on my driver-side floor next to my gas petal everytime it rains. could this be a crack in the firewall?

well it is better to do soda balsting - i don't know how to call it in english but you use soda inseadt of sand - it does not damage parts if used to close and won't leave bits in corners and closed profiles
best regards

Can you do soda blasting while everything is still in the car like the engine and such? or with every method must everything be taken out?
Re: Sand-blasting a car
well for one thing yes if your going to strip a car everything should be out of the car. for an example look at my thread i posted and see how stripped and gutted my car is...https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/fabr...-pictures.html . and for 2 soda blasting will only take off paint NOT RUST!!! you need sand. soda is only good to get paint off fenders, roofs, quarters... and so on. and for 3 the BEST ABSOLUTE WAY TO STRIP A CAR is to have it dipped into an acid tank. that way the chemicals get in EVERY nook and cranny, just some ppl don't like to do it because they say the chemicals stay in the flanges...so just bake it in a paint booth about 20 times and your good

Like stated soda works well for removing the paint, and to get you where you can see what your working with, but wont remove the rust. not aggressive enough.
Also soda leaves a residue and will need to be cleaned or primer wont adhere right.

Do what you want, but soda is a pain to clean thoroughly. You might think your in the clear because your paint job looks nice, but if there was anything left from soda blasting, your paint job will be coming off in sheets. I recommend sandblasting all the nooks and crannies, and sand the outside body down with 40g then 80g.
