House of color pink pearl is a sick color . Here is it on a notch that is for sale up by me. I have seen the car in person and the pic does not even do it justice .

It is VERY expensive though . Guy claims it was $5000 for the paint alone on this car .

haha i wish my wife shared the same enthusiasm for our cars as you did, when we started dating she loved my car and couldnt get enough of it but now... not so much lol i cant even get her to sit outside with me while i do a freakin oil change lol

its gonna look sick i cant wait to see how this turns out for you i saw someone mention the black accents, ever consider black headlight buckets and maybe black gfx?

And to be perfectly honest id rock the pink thirdgen but i wouldnt paint mine any color but blue, maybe a project car for my daughter when shes older haha

 

Hey guys! Ive beeen super busy these past 2 weeks with school and my new job at gamestop! But i have slowly made progress and the car is OFFICIALLY ready for paint! Tomorrow and monday are dedicated to painting my car and i couldnt be more excited!! ) Heres some pics of the final prime! And as soon a she is painted i will be posting lots pictures! My sister is 17 as well, drives a black/gold 86 Z28. her car is much nicer than my 87 was at her age...but mine is about 4 seconds faster in the 1/4 lol.

 

Your color pic is by far a great choice, i think that it will look good, i mocked one up on photoshop, dont know if that's the pink your thinkin, but i think it looks sweeeeet! =D i would almost paint mine this color haha

Just gotta say this is about one of the smartest things I've ever seen anyone say on a board. I've watched way too many teens who just don't have the driving experience end up putting a powerful car around a pole, through a fence, up on a guardrail, or worse. Learn to drive _first_ then go for the muscle. That's the way to do it, and it sounds like you have that figured out already.

I knew a 17 year old gal whose Dad gave her a conquest TSI, which were ridiculously fast cars, and she had almost totaled it twice in under six months.

As with others.. can't wait to see the finished product.

yesss, i know. im dying to paint it, believe meeee. :P weve had a few setbacks. but its completely ready for paint right now, we just need a full day to paint it!

haha no its okay i understand, Im beyond ready to see this car in paint! but we spent all day monday doing some final preperations, like the deck lid on the trunk was about an inch out from the car and the deck lid didnt line up with the fender, so we had to drill bigger holes in order to adjust it so it would line up. It was trial and error in order to get both sides even. and with my paint job the way the two tone is going to be, the deck lid HAD to be even. So im definitely READY to paint the car but im not gonna try and rush the process because i dont want to half *** the paintjob when ive already put tons of hours and money into it, id rather it be done right. greatness takes time, so one more week isnt gonna kill me, i will have the rest of my life to drive the pink maro but its definitely ready to paint!!

yeah the weather was definitely not on my side last week! grr we tried to work on it like 5 nights in a row but it was storming, so that definitely halted work :/

 

Nice to see another girl getting involved in the hobby, lookin' good so far......Kind of like the panther pink mopars of the 70's. Exciting.

2 turbo builds one is using rwd stuff while the other is using a later generation aluminum fwd top end on the motor

and if in doubt about that motors strenght heres a completly stock 2.8 with a turbo and nitrous

it finally blew up with 10 psi of boost and a 200 shot of nitrous but that was form a backfire in the intake dam thing prolly would have held together with 15 psi and a 300 shot had it not backfired for some reason

in retrospect I guess I need to clarify myself. I did not look at the date on some of the latest posts so your right it is not an old thread. I apologize. NOW!!!!!! for the one's that piped up about the "baby girl" comment I MEANT NO DISRESPECT. I do not mean that I am trying to get with her I don't even know her but now I see how that comment could have been interpreted as disrespectful and maybe even sexual harassment. Don't get me wrong she is nice looking but I like the car more and just wanted to know if it was coming along well or was finished. If it is not then when she gets finished it's going to be "HOT" I'm talking about the car. thank you for all of your comments and concerns. sometimes you just have to remember that you can't say to everyone what you say to your friends. Things that make you go by the way I love the color I want my 89rs a deep dark purple I guess they call it midnight blue or something

If it's the same color I'm thinking of, I think it's called Radar Blue.

 

Get it a plum colored purple so you can call it PURPLE HAZE!!! My neighbor with an 81 reliant wants to do that. Darn teenagers (Im a teenager too) and their shenanigans!

thats awesome that your doing your own work, theres a lot of guys out there who don't know the difference between a DA sander and orbital buffer. On a side note, as someone who went through a 2 year bodywork class, wear a dust mask. Your lungs will thank you.

 

radar blue (sounds cool) thanks I like that. and "purple haze" why not I like hendrix just like the next guy. That pink she's going to be rockin is going to be hot!!!!!!

 

Radar blue is the purplish color on the cobalts. If you want a midnight blue, look at the later 4th gen dark blues, they are very really rich and deep in color.

 

Hey tdub197, any progress over the weekend? The anticipation is killin me! I guess I like seeing other peoples progress since mine seems to be taking FOREVER!!!! haha!

But either way, don't rush it! You want it to come out perfect! (but do rush it because we all want to see the end result!)

And I really do respect how you're happy with the V6, because like others have said, that's the responsible, Smart, not to mention safe way to go about it (Not like me....)

I have some advice for you though. For the love of god, do not ever let your friends drive your car! Or if you have a boyfriend, him either... They won't show the respect to your car that you will, after actually putting something into it. If they say they will, don't trust them

Hey guys! The camaro is in the paint booth right now! Im anxious! I hate how long it takes to mask off the whole car :/ gonna spray the black within the next hour! Pictures will be up VERY soon

soooo its been exactly 13 hours since we started working on the car today and im exhausted! But she must be painted! Heres some more pics of the black! And the masked up top half, we just layed down a coat of sealant, and then its the white base, then the kandy, and then FINALLLY the clear I never realized how much work actually painting a car is, especially because we are being EXTRA picky and being perfectionists. haha but shes soooooo gonna be worth it when shes done! Okay now back to work :P

wouldn't it be normal to paint the lighter color first, and then the black over it? I'm guess if you are pinstriping the transition it won't matter, but it seems kind of backwards to me
