Front Turn Signals

Anybody ever have a problem with their front turn signals filling with water and leaving the inside of the lens dirty and dripping with water?

I just pulled one of mine out, cut off the old lens (It was glued on, I think?) And cut a new one out of a sheet of 1/8" polycarbonate. I'm letting the glue dry right now, and my plan is to clean up the edges once its dry, then spray a few coats of tint on it, and put a piece of rubber corner trim around the edge of the lens to cover up my rough edges and where you can see the glue.

Just wondering if anybody else has done anything like this before.

Moisture/dirt is common in the parking light housing. A search will provide info about what others have done.

Why not just fix it the right way by getting a new lens rather than hackjobbing it? GM still sells them.

It appears that it's more than just the lights though.

Re: Front Turn Signals

As I said, I couldn't get the lens off without cutting into it at all; I'm not sure if its glued or what, but it sure was stuck. So I figured that the chances are I'm going to need to buy new ones either way, so I might as well buy a $5 sheet of polycarbonate and try and makeshift something that looks better than before so that I can spend the money on things that are currently more important to me, such as new shocks and struts.

Or you can go with a set of these if you don't want to go through all that work:

They sell them on ebay, I bought a set for my 89 and they fit and look perfectly!

Dynodanmanda, thanks for the lead. I had no idea they would be as cheap as $30 for two.

No problem man, just figured I'd help save you some time with these. They look good too, I'll post a pic of mine when I get a chance.

Re: Front Turn Signals

I think quality and longevity questions come to mind here, I'm sketch about a lot of ebay stuff though had some crappy stuff before, do they fill up with moisture like the factory ones?

Personally mine do not fill up with water/moisture, but I cannot speak for everyone. I can see why someone would be sketchy buying things from ebay, but i've been very impressed with the quality of all the lights i've bought from companies on ebay.

Re: Front Turn Signals

If worse came to worse, and they did fill up with moisture, couldn't you just fill all of the holes and make it all water tight anyways?
