I'm currently in the process of restoring a 91 Firebird. I had the car at the body shop and they're having difficulty finding some replacement parts at the moment. I need the piece for the passenger side door and fender as circled in the pic below.



I've been searching the internet and the only after market body kit I have found is this one..



If I had to go this route I would but I'm not too crazy about the front clip. I was thinking of maybe doing the side pieces and the back from this kit if I could at least restore the front to the original or something similar.





Does anyone know of any other body kits or where I may obtain the parts I need? I am trying to figure out what my options are. The body shop is searching wrecking yards but so far hasn't been successful.

Any suggestions?

 

I think you will find the front one available in repro at Hawks Third Gen. I am not sure about the door piece.

Hawks didn't show up in any of my google searches yesterday, got them bookmarked now. Will hit them up and see what we can do.

Can these be removed from the car to look more like the older models? Not that I'd go that route but was wondering in case I needed a door or fender down the road if I could get one from 82+ and then mount the body kit.

LOL, my '91 was damaged in the exact same two spots when I bought it. Ended up getting both of them used at Pull a Part. Front fender piece took 3 years to find, and even then, the piece I got is missing its underside part. I've looked at probably 2-3 dozen 91-92 parts cars since '05 and that part is ALWAYS broken off or otherwise missing. Fortunately they just started reproducing them a few years ago.

IMO, the factory 91-92 body kit is one of the best looking factory body kits of any car ever (although any Formula owner will disagree). I'm sure you would run into lots of fit and finish problems with that eBay body kit, not to mention that it's...well...hideous.

 

I went ahead and bought both items Carlos listed for me. I'm with you, I prefer the 91-92 style which is why I bought the car.

 

The front piece I ordered from hawks came Friday. Super fast shipping.

Unfortunately the door body molding came broken in half so now I gotta try and find another. Dude didn't pack it very good considering. Hopefully
He'll refund or I'm gonna have to file a claim with Pal Pal.

 

I happen to know where a nearly complete set of trim pieces are here in San Diego, and they are in pretty good condition as well...also I'm about to take mine off too

WOW!! I just found this thread while I was googleing for this same part. Wish I had the resources that most of you do then I would restore it but now I'm on SS so all I want to do is keep it running but with this part gone it looks bad going down the road LOL!! I've had it since new always kept oil changed and fixed things right away, never any trouble w/ engine itself or transmission,harder for me to get in and out of now, I love the car and would hate to get rid of it.

 

I still need the piece. I tried ordering one from Hawks but they refunded my money so I assume that meant they don't plan on getting any.

Hard piece to find with only two years made. I may just change the body moldings completely before too long.

 

I found it on Ebay, but it was sold by Hawks. I just put in my part #.... Good Luck

 

Found the entire body kit from Third Gen Ranch for really cheap.

 

I have been hearing bad things about 3rd gen ranch recently. Taking orders and not shipping them at all, or really late.. One guy had to drive to his house (does business out of his house) to get his parts..

Read these threads.. in both cases 3rd gen ranch stopped responding to calls, PM's and E-mails.. seems to have started around Sept/Aug.. Funny thing is.. he is always updating his facebook page and if you post something there about their issue not getting parts, he deletes it...
