Norwood underhood flat/satin paint

So my car was in a fender bender a couple years ago. Overall the body shop did a great job, but they used a core support and hood off of a blue Van Nuys car with body color paint. They painted the underside of the hood and the core support gloss black to match the exterior. I'd rather have something close to the orginial Norwood flat/satin black. What is a decent way of matching this using a spray can? I don't really want to use a gun if I don't have to. Considering the bodywork is done well and it's under the hood I think I can get away with it. I've heard of auto body supply shops being able to mix paint for spray cans.

Eastwood sells 2k spray bombs, once you activate them you have a time limit of when to get the job done.

I used this type of spray bottle on my wheels.you mix the paint with hardener and thinner in the glass bottle, screw the air tank on, works great, uses a lot less paint.
You can get this at any auto paint store along with the measuring cups and paint supplies.

Re: Norwood underhood flat/satin paint

I have a Norwood car and the original paint underhood had shine to it. My car is an 82, so I am not sure if the paint process was different in the 5 model years after my car was built, but in 82, underhood paint was not flat. It was a single stage process, so the same paint was used everywhere on the car.

Mine was flat before. Did black cars get a different treatment than other colors?

My 82 Recaro is black. The only thing satin black on the car was the cowl area under the windshield. Everything else was gloss. Over the years, your car underhood may have lost its luster, or possibly was covered in some type of undercoating.

If it's 86 and newer, your clearcoat probably lost it's shine from the heat and dirt.

Yes - that paint process started in Norwood in 1986. There are probably ares underhood that did not get cleared very well and could appear satin. You could probably replicate that by adding a flattening agent to clear coat and spraying some of these areas.
