Z28 Grille Insert
Can someone post a picture of the gloss black, 90-92 (I think) Z28 grille insert. with fog lights. Some inserts will have the red chevy logo or "CAMARO". I cant currently post a pic. My question is, what years, models did these come on and what years, models are they compatible with? I have an 84 Z28 but want this look. Thanks.
Re: Z28 Grille Insert
85-up use the same bumper cover, Z28, Iroc, RS anyway. The non-fog louvered grill, "Camaro" grill, and bowtie grill all interchange on those front bumpers. 91-92 Z28 used the bowtie logo.
The 84 Z28 front bumper is different.
Technically, the grill for all of the above is a semi-gloss black. Gloss black versions have been polished, painted, or are incorrect aftermarket parts.

It's too glossy, it's a repro. A GM approved and packaged repro, but still a repro. Just look at the photo of an original Z28 in the listing, notice it's not mirror glossy.

Re: Z28 Grille Insert
I wonder if 1 or 2 coats of matt or flat clear could fix these repro grills. When I see one it annoys me.
Re: Z28 Grille Insert
With GFX yes. The Sport Coupe 82-87, Berlinetta, LT, without GFX use a different style grill.
Not even modifications really, just remove the screws holding the grill, pop in the foglight grill, put screws in new locations, done.

Awesome. Thanks. I'm considering getting a GFX kit from Hawks. I'm thinking I want the 90-92 Z28 kit with the aforementioned grille insert.
Re: Z28 Grille Insert
It's certainly possible to go that way. Hot Rod did a series of articles updating a 82-84 Z28 to look like a later Z28. It'd probably be easier and faster to just find a 91-92 Z28, if that's what you want. That way you'd get the later body, later interior, later drivetrain, and all the other upgrades that come along with the appearance.
