For those of you who wanted pics of 4th gen console in a 3rd gen Camaro.

Console out of a '00 TA in a 92 Camaro Automatic.

Still need to figure out the window switch placement, and get the shifter plate to work.

Here they are:

I'll post more of them when I get it all done. Where's Camaro22, I need to know how to get the stock shifter to work.

Looks good so far. Did you have to use a firebird radio pod too?

The console is black, the flash just made everything lighter.

No, I did not use the Firebird radio pod. Yes, I had to fabricate it out of the old console. Yes, it took awhile.

I believe the only way to use the auto shifter with a 4th gen console is with the manual insert. Luckily, I have a manual to start with, so I didnt have a problem... but from what Ive heard and seen, you need to use a manual (5 or 6 spped) console insert.
Good Luck!

it looks good so far but i would definately like to see some close up pics that show how you grafted the two consoles together. I was thinking about doing the same thing your doing but as of yet i haven't found one in decent shape in the JY.

Well, I've got to cut off a piece of the radio pod, to make it look better and keep it from interfering with the new console. I'll post some pics tomorrow night (tuesday). The graft looks good.

Looks good. But I'll save the rest for when you post more pics.

Post a pic or two (close up of the graft area) of what you have now. I think the brighter folks here will realize it's a work in progress and know not to critisize any gap or ugliness that may be there (they better).

just a couple more questions while i wait for more pics. Did you actually make the radio portion of the old console attach to the TA console, or is it just hanging from the bottom of the dash? Also did you have to use parts from the rest of the old console to make the new console fit, or was it just a chop of the old one, and a graft of the new one? Finally, what are plans for the seam of the two consoles? are you gonna just leave a seam like they do on the 3rd gen firebirds or are you gonna try to cover it or mold it somehow? Im actually really interested in this, i've been looking for a console to try for some time now.

Is there something about 00 TA consoles that is different from other years? Do you by any chance know what years shared that console? I was under the impression that it was the same from 98-up, but i was told that im wrong on that.

Well, I'm having image hosting and time issues, I'll have them posted tomorrow or sunday, when I'm off work. I just chopped the old one and the radio pod just hangs from the dash, but it's more solid than you think. I'm leaving the gap in between the new and old console so that I can get heat on my feet. It gets pretty cold here. The new console just bolts right in. 97 and newere Firebird/TA/Camaro all share the same console.
