rubber on my door latch has torn and no longer serving its purpose. door latch is banging against striker on bumps. weatherstrip is perfect condition and so is striker, looks like it came off the assembly line. door does not sag, and when it shuts it just sounds sweet. not an adjustment problem. it's gotta be lack of rubber on latch. windows are not rattling, the window stopper rubber has been replaced. this is a T-Top car, with windows down, Ttops off when this happens. I mean, is there any other way to drive it!
Anyone run across any after-market solutions, like a cover to fit onto the striker to make up for the lost latch rubber?
unfortunately, no aftermarket 89-92 door latches yet, that I know of
Wont it make the bolt too thick for that latch? Is the plastic block in the latch still there? If its missing it can also cause rattles with latch/striker.

yep,too big. latch wont go over it. which plastic block are you referring to, in the latch or on the door? i noticed the door is bouncing when I shut it, unlike the driver side, which does not.
thanks, i see. not sure if later model latches have those?? i was able to adjust the latch assembly up a millimeter or so, big improvement. Maybe it was an adjustment issue. wont know for sure until the next spin.
They all have them, unless they fall off,My 84 had them and so does my 89.
I don't see them in mine. How do they mount? Not seeing anything in there for something like to mount. Not even sure if there is enough room in there for something like that to fit. How big are they?
Not sure how the mount or how big. They're about next to the latch. Its what keeps the head of the striker snug. Here's a pic of mine, even my 84 had them
