Z06 Brake Swap Being Published in March GMHTP
GMHTP is going to publish my Z06 brake swap in their March issue (on sale date is Feb. 7) I sent them detailed pictures and step by step instructions as well as a list of all parts and part numbers and diagrams for the brackets. I'm psyched to see it in there...I'm hoping for 3-4 pages maybe. Big thanks to everyone who helped me when I did the swap. I asked them to mention TGO in the article so we'll see.

Boy, are they sure?
Might **** off a couple vendors who do adds in there mag.
Weird bit, they go from unaffordable setups and cars to a real article on tuning a stock ecm back to advertiser press back to DIY projects.
Either way, should be neat to see

Thanks guys. Sorry I don't have a link to it....it's not up on their website or anything like that. I don't know if they'll be putting it up there, but from everything I sent them it should be a very good step by step article.

Do you have it saved on a computer and do you have digital pictures. They have a spot here on TGO for good write-ups.
If not you could e-mail it to me and I'll find some web space for it.
It would be nice to have a copy available somewhere on the internet.
What if you don't subscribe to GMHTP?
In any case, congrats for getting it in the mag.

Ok Ben now I'm on the same page. I do have all of my pics and written directions as well as a part number and price list. Any idea which moderator I should contact about having it hosted as a tech article on here?

I believe Justins86bird is the moderator. Hopefully he'll see this post and speak up, if not you can send him a PM. His name is at the top of the brake forum under moderator. You can just click on it and send him a pm.

is this a write up of the c6 z06 brakes or the c5 brakes? If the c6 zo6, where did you buy them from? Still waiting on my dealer to be able to buy them.
thanks

C5....I didn't even know guys were using C6 ones yet. I'll have to look into that and educate myself a little on the differences.

If you do a search you can read enough posts to understand how to convert 3rdgen brakes to LS1 or C5 brakes. I haven't been able to find an actual write-up, with pictures, of how to do it.
There is one for the rear LS1/C5 conversion but nothing for the front. That's why I was hoping to get this one posted on the board somewhere.
Paul Riccioli Jr did you ever contact Justins86bird, the brake board moderator. If not, send me a PM.

to my knowledge, nobody has done the c6 z06 swap yet due to the number of replacement parts from the dealer have been hit and miss. i have been checking my dealer once a month for the parts to become available. as far as i know, if you have the c5 swap done, all you would have to do is buy the calipers, pads, and rotors because the caliper bracket is made onto the caliper. The c5 vette guys that have been able to get there hands on them have been able to bolt them on with no mods which is a good thing for us, so we wont have to engineer a whole new setup for these.
side note: 18" wheels are required to clear the brakes on the c6 z06
thanks

Sorry I haven't had time to put a full writeup together. I just sent all my step by step stuff and pics to the mag and let them organize it. I'll have to find some time to lay it out nicely. There's a link floating around in the posts about the C5 brakes that pretty much shows you step by step. Do a few searches and I'm sure you'll find it. Look for some posts that I started it may even be in there.

Ok here's the deal. I have a customer's Mu$*ang to put back together ASAP for him so I'm gonna be busy the next week or two. As soon as the magazine comes out though I'm going to scan the whole article and host it on my company site (www.rpmrestoandcustom.com) as well as have it hosted on my local club site (www.njfboa.org) I will let you guys know as soon as it's up. I'm very sorry that I can't put something together sooner.
You can find all of the info on TGO scattered in various places though....that's how I did all my prep work. So long as you find the diagram for the caliper brackets you can get all the part numbers from your local dealer and just make sure you get your hubs machined to just fit inside the new rotor. And use longer wheel studs to be safe! All of the part numbers and prices should be listed in the article. Once again I'm sorry I can't get this to you guys sooner.

I was told it was going to be in there. What's in the Stainless Steel Brake Upgrade article? Maybe you can take another look through the mag?

I got it today also.
Was a good read, although nothing new to me :-) I did the LS1 swap on the Formie over a year ago lol
It was really funny reading it and than seeing the wimpy and also less cost effective vs. braking power SSB stock size bolt on setup as the next article lol.
Nice to see things in car mags that obvioulsy arent getting hawked by a vendor
Good work.

It is in there, nice job. Articles on our beasts are few and far between. That SSBC article was lame in comparison. Those SSBC are not an upgrade anyway, more eye candy than anything else.

Awesome! Now I just have to wait for it to hit the newstands. If anyone sees it out in the stores please let me know so I can go pick up the 8-10 copies I need for various people. I'll scan it in as soon as I get a copy, or if someone else wants to do it first I have no problem with them doing it.

I just read the article in GMhightech. Does anyone know if this brake mod will fit behind 17" torque thrust II's?

It will depend on backspacing and offset. Read these:

Thanks for the info ebmiller. Are you selling the the pieces that need to be machined for this kit? After reading those links I got the impression that you were. If so, how much for the caliper mount brakets? and how much for motified rotors?
