Normal for BRAND NEW brake calipers to RUST in a little over 1 1/2 months????

I recently spent over $1800cdn getting ALL my brakes replaced:

The brakes were done on March 29th, 2008. Approx 2 weeks ago I noticed when I was washing the car that the front calipers are RUSTED.. The calipers themselves are rusty-orange color now.. Now obviously I know the rotors will, but considering these ACDELCO's are not even 2 months old, and my ORIGINAL (Assume ACDELCO) up to 2007 were still the blackish color until I had them painted blue, were fine.. am I wrong to think I need to go back to the shop and complain?? I got an indoor car show coming up in 2 weeks and they look like CRAP!

Here is my ORIGINAL ones (pic taken 2007). (Bought car 1998; 10 years later no rust showing)

Here is a pic the day the car was brought home with the brand new ACDelco front calipers. No rust showing on outside.

I don't have any pictures of front view of the rusted calipers (GF is borrowing camera) so I actually have a picture of the inside view of the front calipers the day after. You can see the rust already forming.

Picture that rust covering the ENTIRE front caliper now!

they are uncoated iron, they WILL rust, eventually they will turn dark again from age and such, it may take years

Sorry for asking, but why on earth would you spend that kind of money for stock brakes??? you can buy ls1 or c5 front kits, far superior braking for far less! bolt on deals and most come with braided flex lines too.
I dont mean to be a d$ck with that question, just wondering?

I gave the the rebuilt calipers I put on my car and truck about 4 or 5 coats of engine paint. They still look all most perfect. I put them on because only my way is good enough and I wouldn't want to pay some one to do it to my standards.

I think ls1 brakes would have been cheaper.Like 86ta said they are not coated, that's why they have some rust, try painting them it will help.

For what it's worth, I was looking at 2008 Corvettes parked outside at the GM dealer earlier this week and the rotors were completely orange (rust).

Don't know what to say about the calipers you have.

It still should not have even costed anywhere near half of what you paid.

thats not a big deal, a rotor is bare metal it will rust overnight if it rains, but first time you hit the brakes they are smooth and rust free again.

OP, if you want the calipers to look stock and not painted a color, you can clean them off and hit them with some clear coat, that will keep them rust free for a good long time.
