Rear middle rubber brake line

Does anyone sell the soft/flexible brake line section that connects the main hard line off the proportioning valve to the other two hard lines on the rear axle? I've got all new hard lines, looking to replace the rubber hoses and I've found all of them except this one. I don't really care if its rubber or stainless, I just don't want to re-use the 20 year old rubber hose that I have!

The above is from http://www.rockauto.com/index.php?a=...rtsgascappromo but I'd imagine generic auto parts should have them.

Re: Rear middle rubber brake line

JamesC is always a wealth of good info.

My experience w/ the same component, when I switched in the
new disc-brake diff... NO shops had a listing for the disc brake unit.
So in frustration, I tried the old line off the drum diff.
Everything fit properly at both ends, and EVERY shop had a listing
for the drum unit.

Re: Rear middle rubber brake line

Its a day late and a dollar short since JamesC is on the ball, but I replaced all 3 rear rubber brake lines. I went to autozone and bought the 1 rear line they carry for our J65 cars. I think they said it was for either side, but its actually for the rear center.

Then I went to Oreilly and got the left and right rears.

Re: Rear middle rubber brake line

I ended up getting the lines from advance auto, mainly because it was the first local store's website that keyed up one of the part numbers

I ordered new lines to the rear calipers too, one thing that threw me off a little on those was the note that said "for rear disc brakes, non performance package".. I had never heard of a rear performance package, just drum or disc. They ended up fitting just fine though on the PBR calipers.

That "performance package" is something you are going to see a lot when you are looking up components from auto part stores. The performance package is the 1LE, which most of us will not have.

Re: Rear middle rubber brake line

89-92 cars with rear discs are equipped with the same braking system (11.7" rotors and single-piston alum calipers) as a 1LE car. As a confusing consequence, often you'll see these advertised as "1LE" or the "performance package," when in fact they're standard J65 brakes for 89-92 cars.

I did not realize that. What is that performance package then? I figured it was the 1LE, because it is definitly not what is on my formula. Here is a link to a pic of the "performance package" brake pads.

If your 90 is equipped with OE rear disc brakes (11.7" rotors and alum PBR calipers), it has standard J65 brakes for 89-92, which are the same brakes that a 1LE would have (thus the performance package). Pic in my vbGarage, lower left. I've been discussing the rears.

The link is to front pads. A standard non-1LE car, such as your 90, will have 10.5" front rotors and iron, single-piston Delco-Moraine calipers--yes, the fronts will be smaller than the years. The pads you link to may be called 'performance' because of their ceramic compound.

Re: Rear middle rubber brake line

it was funny last time i replaced my pads i asked for the performance package
counter guy at advance was like "are you sure we get these pads returned all the time for the non performance ones" funny thing was the box was so old it was falling apart

as for the body to rear end flex line when ever the rubber spacers are pressed together the line needs replaced as it means someone let the rear hang by the line
