4TH GEN REAR BRAKE LINE MODIFICATIONS AND E-BRAKE CABLES TO USE

I have a 91 Camaro that had factory rear drum brakes. I am using a 99 4th gen rear axle with traction control.

Can someone post a picture of how they modified the rear axle lines off of the rear axles with TC into a design that screws into a T like the third gens did originally?

Also, I've been looking for the post where someone posted info about off the shelf parking brake cables that would work on the later 4th Gen rear axles. Can someone provide that or tell me what they used? Ive seen mixed info about using the longer of the two e-brake lines off of a Third Gen Camaro that had original rear disc brakes. I'd rather not have to pay $120 for a pair of brake cables from: http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i153.html

I cant remember if I posted the part number for the hose. But I just went to autozone and they let me dig through the hose boxes til I found one with the ends and the length I needed.

As for the ebrake, I used 4th gen ebrake cables. Im also using the 4th gen ebrake handle with console inside.

Then to make it work 100% perfect, I cut the cable bracket off the bottom of the 4th gen, and welded it in my thirdgen. You can also bolt it. I did that on my first car.

If you want to keep your thirdgen handle, you might still be able to use the 4th gen cables and bracket. Not sure on that.

I still have the hull of the 1999 so I could pull all of that off. Does the bracket have to be cut off with a grinder or something? I can't remember what it looks like.

How much difference is there in the 4th gen e-brake handle and the 3rd gen one? I'd like to keep my 3rd gen console and possibly use the 4th gen handle and such.

Looks like the part number isn't posted. I'd love to have that if you remember anything about it.

Not sure about the 4th gen ebrake in thirdgen console. But...if I remember correctly, you could hook the thirdgen handle up to the 4th gen rear brake cables. Or you might be able to make it work...

Here is a pic of the 4th gen handle just for reference.

And here is the bracket you'll need from the 4th gen. I think I drilled out the spot welds to get it off. And in hindsight, I should have kept the front mount intact instead of using my thirdgen one. But it was too late at this point haha.

You can see I just booger welded it. There were 3/8" grade 8 bolts holding that to the floor of my last car. Since I knew it worked, I made it permanent on this one. Works great esp if you have a 4th gen sitting around to steal the bracket.

Ill work on the hose. But no promises. That was a LONG time ago and I had a few hoses to try. Probably just got it to fit and moved on throwing away the bag. Ill see what I can find though.

Re: 4TH GEN REAR BRAKE LINE MODIFICATIONS AND E-BRAKE CABLES TO USE

On the LH hard line on my 99 rear axle with traction control, the fitting from the factory is 12mmx1.0. I just re-flared that to 10mmx1.0 to match the other side and shortened it down a little. Now that both are 10mmx1.0, they will simply screw into the factory rear brake hose on my 1991.

Now to decide on the e-brake cables!

Just use 1996-97 camaro/firebird 3.8 brake line stuff. They used the same "T" you are talking about. That will change to 3 channel.
