Master cylinder reservoir

Hi guys, is there any master cylinder reservoir on the market with a "screwed on" cap than the stupid rectangular cap that is direct fit for my 92 Firebird? I always hate to bleed the brakes or change brake fluid with this crappy rectangular cap. I have a electric bleeder pump in my garage that has a standard "screw on" adapter like BMW oder Mercedes has. Anyone can help me?

Thanks!

Re: Master cylinder reservoir

You can swap to the fourthgen master and reservoir. It's a direct bolt in.

Re: Master cylinder reservoir

Ok, it is not a direct bolt in. I ordered a 93-97 master. Yes it does bolt in but the front brake line piece between master and proportioning valve has a fine thread, while the 4th gen master has a coarse thread like the rear line. Are there adapters out there or something?

Thanks!

Re: Master cylinder reservoir

the 98-02 have the same thread, the 93-97 will need an adapter....be careful the pushrods are different lengths 3rd gen to 4th gen, the swap will introduce some extra free play

I had forgotten about the threads being different on different years.
I swapped to an LS1 brake booster and master for space at least five years ago and have never noticed or heard anyone refer to any play in the brake system. If there is play it must come from having the thirdgen booster and fourthgen master.

This is all good info to have.

So your 4th gen. booster/master combo otherwise bolted up? Any mods required?

Re: Master cylinder reservoir

I didn't have to modify anything. The mounting studs that mount the brake booster to the firewall are slightly shorter but it wasn't an issue. There are a few good threads on swapping the assemblies. FueledSoul has a good physical comparison thread.
