Brake hose question
I have a 88 GTA
I was working on my car I had the rear tires off and the pass rear brake flex line is really old and brittle a chunk broke off
I replaced them 10 years ago on both fronts
And just can't seem to find anyone who has 1 of a gm part number to cross

And from what you describe, you need to do it very soon.

Re: Brake hose question
You could buy a pack of Russel stainless and have a replacement, my local Advance Auto Parts has them in stock?
Edit - Sorry, that is if you have 1LE or Drums. Rear Disc non-1LE is available for 3 day delivery to your door.

About 99% of what's on the market is Sunsong. I bet you take a AC Delco outta the bag, it's Sunsong.
Moral of the story: if the part is the same from multiple sources, pay more attention to price and terms, than the name on the package.
I wouldn't put Russell on my worst enemy's car. Too much danger it would create collateral damage among people I like when it fails.

Re: Brake hose question
Too many people have experienced them breaking off; the place on the fitting where the hose crimps to it, is thin and weak. The Earl's were MUCH better. Not sure if they're still available.

Re: Brake hose question
True dat... OTOH, when one supposedly "upgrade" over OEM brand is MARKEDLY more prone to a specific and repeatable form of failure, one tends to avoid it.
Glad you haven't had trouble with yours. Hope you don't. Be warned though, keep the stress on the place where the hose meets the fittings, to a minimum.

Re: Brake hose question
If you go read my thread where I had a some excitement with my brakes, you will see that I saw where the lines would actually set up against the cast rib where the hose meets the caliper. I clearanced this area. Probably relieving what you are describing. Often times even bolt on modifications can require just a bit of additional work.
