Re: PBR rears almost impossible to find.

I scored a brand new pair from a friend of mine that had them in a GM tote bin since 1992. His dad worked at a local dealership in Dartmouth MA and would always save parts that got thrown out. Back story on the calipers was that someone bought a brand new Camaro in 1992 and brought it in for a pinion seal leak. The dealer couldnt find the parts needed to fix the issue so a brand new 10 bolt was ordered. the rear came complete with calipers and rotors. The calipers on the car stayed in place and were placed on the new rear. The new calipers were removed and tossed in a box. That box was then tossed in the dumpster where they were then retrieved and brought home

There was/is hundreds and hundreds of NOS GM parts in this guys basement. All parts from 80s and 90s vehicles just sitting there in GM bins and boxes

I paid $125 for the pair of calipers....with new pads.

I also just bought a pair of original PBRs for $20. I just need to try and track down some rebuild kits.

FWIW, this what I purchased to do my rear disk conversion. Not sure if this is what you're referring to or not.

Those are 4th gen calipers, but they do work as 3rd gen replacement calipers

Re: PBR rears almost impossible to find.

9-bolt calipers are no different from anyotherbolt calipers.

The backing plates are different. Specific to the 9-bolt. Calipers are the same.

Oh I didn't know other calipers can be used in place of these, just resuse backing plates. What other part numbers fit?

Re: PBR rears almost impossible to find.

I should have said, 9-bolt PBR calipers are no different from any other # of bolts PBR calipers. Among the ones that come on these cars, that is. The only other possible kind being, 10-bolt ones.

93-97 F-body PBR calipers might also fit directly onto our rears but I don't know for sure.
