Good Sounding Sub That Needs Small Enclosure and Hits Hard w/ about 200W RMS
Right now I'm ordering my hood and front ground effects so my car can get painted this month. When I redo my system I want a lot of trunk room but a good sounding sub. What would be a good sub to go with this amp but I need one that doesn't need a lot of space at all. Thanks a lot guys!

Well, see, that's a problem. Small-box subs require small boxes because they have very high mass. High mass makes them extremely inefficient, which means that with only 200 watts, it's not going to get as loud as a different, more efficient sub that needs a bigger box. JL subs seem to offer a good comprimise. The box size is relatively small, and they're relatively efficient.
Thanks Jim, well, does anyone know of any good sounding subs that can play well with 200W and don't need a HUGE amount of space? I was thinking bout Alpine Type-R or a JL Audio... anyone have any other suggestions? I would like one that doesn't need too much space tho. The smaller the better. Thanks!

My 10" Alumapro doens't take up much room at all. I believe the box is .7 cubic feet. I'll attach a picture of the finished setup. The box is actually about 3 inches below the top of the amp in the picture, but because I wanted to cover the whole thing and make it look like was meant to be there it is a little taller looking than it really is. I've got 400 watts going to this 1 10" speaker but I've heard them hooked up at like 150 watts and they still pound. Hope that helps.

Do you have any more pics of that? That's kinda like what I wanna do. I want to be able to still put my soccer stuff in the back without takin a chance on somethin hittin my sub and messin it up. I'm gonna carpet the box the same color as my interior and hopefully find a way to cover the amp up too. Then nothing will show and it'll still sound good.
You could consider the Image Dynamics IDQ series speakers. They use a small box about and provide very good SQ. SPL is decent also. The IDQ10 is about $170 and the IDQ12 is about $200. They aren't very power hungry, so 200 watts will push one quite well. They aren't the loudest subs on the market, but they have amazing SQ, play relatively loud, are cheap, and aren't power hungry. If you want more volume, you could sacrifice some SQ and go for a JL W3. Either sub will work well for you.

I'd go with a W3 over a W6, I think they are highly overarted for their price range. But the new W7 is a beast and a half, lol. If you want something that can handle 200 watts rms, small enclosure, a JL Audio 12W0 would give some nice thump for a small space and low wattage. The W3 would hit a little harder, but it needs a lil more airspace and some more wattage. But all in all JL subs are great at sounding good with low wattage, unlike Rockfords where u need tons of power to get em to sound good.
hi,
i would go with a infinity kappa perfect,10-12 either one, both sound very good,i have one for sale actually if your interested, couple months old, infinity usually dont cause to much problem with getting them exchanged if need be,they sound very good, and very clear, best subs i ever had, just that i want something that will make the car beside me shake, and these wont do that, they hit very hard, and clear, but other than that, if i wasnt going perfects,i would go with either jl,alpine type r's,or polk momo,my friend has a polk momo in his truck, and omg, sounded just as good as my 2 perfects.just my .02
