New here and question about Subs
Hello everyone who reads this. I am new to the forum because I just became a very proud owner of a 1990 Camaro RS. The couple who had it before me used it for weekend drives and a little more only. 76,000 miles on it so I got a deal in a half. This is my first actually bought car. I had a 1966 Mustang and I still love my baby but having air conditioning and the works rocks right now for me. Ok sorry about the rambling let me go on. I was wondering what would be a good system to fit in a 1990 Camaro RS? Like what would be a good deck and good subs? Thanks for the help everyone

pioneer 7400 for the deck and two alpine type r 12 inch subs for the speaks. i love mine system and i got it dirt cheap. it blows most stuff here at school away and it has crappy amps.

Welcome to the boards! And hey....nice car!!
Whatever you get, go Alpine EVERYTHING (I've been on an Alpine mission all night) They make the best stuff. Alpine R 12's will knock everyone in you car backwards...even with crappy amps...just like spartyon was saying. I'm not sure how much you wanna spend on this stuff, but you can get a lot for a little if you look in the right places. As far as how you put it together, all up to personal preference. Here's how mine looks....and it sounds SPECTACULAR...

howdy!
hey man,
$ is the main detiminant here, but most every one agrees that at least any sub is better than no sub, hehehehe.
every thing is in order of my preference
cd decks: alpine, kenwood, pioneer
speakers: eclipse, boston acoutics, infinity
subs: eclipse, pheonix gold, rockford fostgate, ifinity
amps for subs: pheonix gold, kicker, rockford f, MTX
use seal or ported box depending on your speaker, any good car audio shop can help you dertimne the best box to use. make one its fun.
have fun with your new f bod!

I've had nothing but good luck when I bought my Alpine 7892 Deck. I run Polk Audio 6x9's and Polk front speakers (forgot the model and size).
I have 1 12" Mobile Authority sub (soon to be Polk 12") in a custom 3/4" Fiberboard sub box. When I seal that puppy up with Black Magik and painted it, boy it sounded KILLER! The sub runs off 1 600watt Lanzar Amp and the rest of the speakers run off the deck.
All I can say is it's plenty loud and crisp after tuning it all in. Eventually, i'll get the mid's and high's running on it's own separate Amp, but in the meantime, it's louder and more clearer than most systems i've heard.
Hope you got some idea's from this. Welcome and good luck from Thirdgen.Org

If you want to put down serious money... you could go for some serious SPL. Just do your research on your speakers and how you want to wire everything.
My favorite motto from my best friend is "90% Install and 10% Equipment."
If you can get a good box that will give your speakers proper air space, then you will be definately turning heads.
