alpine rox.

Id just like to say that I bought a nice alpine. 3 pre outs 4 volts. mp3 and NEVER skips! Cant go wrong. Also the features kick ***. Like bass and treble frequency, Sub functions, and many more. Next item on my goodies list is a pair of Infinity 4x6s...Do those fit in my dash with ease?

Its kinda weird havin alpine head unit, sony subs sony amp sony 6-9s and soon to be infinity 4-6s. Who cares if it matches? long as it sounds good huh.

Anyway feel free to voice some opinions on my setup and future plans.

Nate

if you're in search for the best sound you will never get it having matching equipment. There arent too many companies out there that will make all components for a system, and even less that make quality stuff.

alpine
RF
Eclipse
PG

out of those main companies, each has a weak point in its designs...a speaker is a speaker it doesnt matter who's name is on it, just buy the best one to suit your needs

Good luck. I hope it doesn't break either, but unfortunately I have lost a lot of confidence in newer head units. Not just Alpine... everybody. They are so crammed full of features, yet the prices are much lower than just a few years ago. If they still expect to turn a profit, they need to trim the bottom line, which means using cheaper components, and cheaper manufacturing techniques. These circuit boards get packed with more and more stuff, with smaller and smaller traces, and production costs go down... it just doesn't bode well for reliability. In the last few years I've seen the number of repairs skyrocket.

Not to be smug, but that's job security for me.

youv'e got that right! just think if he had finished it off with a sony X-plode HU.

I had an alpine, it broke three times under warranty. Jim an NEEDAZ, you guys must be stereo techs? Basically the entire HU had been replaced after the third repair. It's bugs had been worked out and I was no longer powering speakers with it. I was confident it would work forever....then it got stolen.

I agree with the non-sense features in radios these days. Why can't they just sound good? That's why I liked my Alpine, it had the BBE, bass/trebel and loud, and it sounded fine. Now all these kids want stereo that remember thier birthdays and stuff. I'm holding out with some old school CD players, my faithfull skipwood, digifine, and a Pioneer DEH-2100 not old school, but ready to take the place any dashboard casualty.

there are a lot of unwanted features out there, but i must say alpines time correction feature is awesome. My current unit is an alpine 7893 which has quite a few bells and whistles and sounds decent i guess but i have an old school 7838 which sounds just as good as this one and i love it. its almost like a sleeper looks for car stereo

Too many features? Bah... I love the fact that I can turn my sub down. The frequency of my channels, plus tons of great features. I hated my last deck for the fact that when I wanted to turn my subs down I had to turn the rear channel down...Whack!
