could your fuse be too small for your amps current draw?

i think with that amp you should probobly get a bigger fuse. i know my memphis if i put a 50 in it it pops so now all i use is 80's so i would try a bigger fuse and see if that works

i would say go with the fuse size in your amp plus some...i think your PPI amp should draw something like 50 amps max current draw so put an 80 or so near the battery. Check your manual if you still have it for the max current draw of your amp.

I use a 80 Amp fuse, and have never had a problem. Use a larger compacity fuse, one that is rated for your amp, that will make a huge difference

If you use a fuse that is higher than reccomended, won't your amp blow before the fuse? If the amp has the fuse built in, its for it's own protection right?

that fuse is not there to protect the amp. The amp has it's own fuses.

It won't make a difference if it is a 60 or an 80 amp, it's not like it's going to let too much power to your amps.

well, I have my own problem. The fuse that's in my amp, it's a 15amp car fuse, and it keeps blowing. I'm not sure if it's my sub or the amp. I tried so many different things, it works when i set the amp to hi and low pass, but when it's on low and I turn it up, just like Ive been doing for months, the fuse always blows, Ive been through 5 fuses and im getting frustrated

simple...

either you're overdriving the amp ( I don't know you but I always suspect this is most likely)

or the fuse in the amp is too small (perhaps someone replaced it with a 'spare' fuse at one point)

double check your sub wiring and look for a fuse rating on the case of the amp....you may need to get close. Turn down the gain and adjust your cross over frequency as well, perhaps you are demanding too much from your amp.

Those fuses on the amp are indeed there to protect the amp, but they are not there to protect the subs.

I didn't want to say this, but if you've done all those things and it keeps blowing the fuse.......it's toast.....send it to me and I'll try and fix it. I'll even give you a couple bucks for it.

I'm in the process of checking the wiring, I did it myself and could ahve messed somehting up, it could possibly be pinched somewhere. If not, both the sub and amp are under warranty and I can send them back, If I can def. conclude that it's the sub, then Ill just buy a new one rather than ship it back because shipping will be more thana new one. If it's the amp, Ill send it back. Thanks for your help
