20GB MP3 player install...
still in the planning stages, but this is what I'm gonna try to do with my MP3 player

here is my Rio Karma as it sits in the dock

I want to use the line outs in the back of the dock, as well as the power supply from it

There is more than enough space to fit the dock under the ashtray

I took the steel ashtray dish out.
when the ashtray lid is open, it hits the bottom of the dock, so it wont sit high enough

it can sit a little higher than in this pic, but still not enough to see the full screen
So i'll try to get a new shifter plate at the wreckers, and just take the ashtray lid off that one, i dont want to hack up my stock peice, hopefully it will have enough room then to sit higher then.

this deck will replace the sony unit

the blue plug goes into the back of the head unit, giving me auxilary inputs for the mp3 player
should be cool when its finsihed!

I did the same thing with my Nomad Zen x player and I must be honest......It did not have the push on sound like I thought it would. Those things are great with headphones, but just did not sound good (loud enough) for me.
I did however like the fact that I did not have to carry my CD case (about 200 cds) in my car at all times.

the karma is one of the best sounding players out there, i've hooked it up to many stereos and it sounds great, so i'm not worried about that

i did something similar with my labtop. I bought one of those wires that converts RCA to the normal headphone jack plugs. My deck has an input for an auxilary input already so i just wired it through the console and all i have to do is just plug it into the labtop whenever i get into the car. I know its a little more bulgy but with teh labtop i can also plug it into the ecm with my winaldl cable to get realtime data, figured i might as well kill two birds with one stone. either way its so much better than carrying around cd's
