cd player installation- wire trouble

I am trying to install an aftermarket cd player into a 1989 Firebird Formula but I am unable to figure out what each wire coming from the car connects to since the colors don't match the cd wires that they need to be spliced to. Could some one please list which colored wire connects to what and anything else that may help me with this. Thanks!

www.installdr.com used to be a great resource... but now it asks for a password

I'd say, go to Wal*Mart, get an $8 wiring harness that plugs into your stock connectors, and wire it to your radio harness (will be the same colors)

ya ground should be black.(or you can make a ground.) Yellow should be your power.(sometimes orange.) (you can also make your own power by tapping the battery or another power source.)and your ignition should be red. Unsure where it comes from. I imagine the ignition. LOL

anyway you should deff. get a wiring harness too.

if your wires arent already hacked, buy a harness, way less hassle and you can put the stock deck back in later on when you sell it, if you do

if he goes and buys a wireing harness he doesn't have to worry about connecting a to b. all the colors will match up.

If you want to be a real cheap skate, go to the store and count the pins on the harness.

draw out a quick sketch of the pin out, and use the pin positions as reference. Not the wire colors.

Save yourself the $10 and make it that much harder to wire this or any other HU in the future....or use it in your next thirdgen.
