No Bass

I put a Alpine headunit in my car a few months ago and no matter what i do my bass sucks. The head unit i used to have gave me tons of bass. Im not 100% sure of the model number on the headunit. I know it has a 4V pre out and its own channel for the subs. I have tried cranking the BASS all the way up and messing with the Hz on it in the head unit but it doesent give a thumping bass it is more you can hear it bass. Any ideas?

All of my Kenwood decks did that. I just got a different brand. Adding a sub would work too.

I hear this all the time with Alpine decks. If your amp's gain is at max, then you might try to install a line driver to boost up the voltage.

I second that from personal experience. Installing a line driver will help loads, not to mention cut down some on clipping from things being set wrong to compinsate from the (relativly) low line out voltage.

A model # would help but try this
Do you have Time Correction? If so , set this correctly.
then set your Bass Focus. If this is set wrong, the bass will royally suck. the manual is your friend when setting this.

When I first got my system the mid-bass and bass response was less than thrilling. After getting the time correction set, music sounded encompassing but lacked the punch I wanted. Then I set bass focus and I am very happy.
Also the cross-over points are important.
You should feel the bass, but the Punch---the kick, the impact, the feeling of getting hit in the back of the head, is a function of a properly tuned system with strong mid-bass.
Spend some time learning your headunit (time correction, bass focus, EQ- setting the Q correctly and boosting the 90-150HZ range) and you will get the sound you are looking for

Are you sure you don't have your subs wired out of phase of each other?

When i get home i will get the model number of my headunit. I know it has the BASS focus and other features that i have messed with to no avail.

My subs have been fine with my past 2 heasunits nothing has changed at all. only thing i have changed was my headunit. I would have stood with my kenwood but my CD changer broke and i had the alpine in my closet that i was waitng to put in my firebird but since its not done yet i just put it in my camaro.

might sound stupid but do you have your rcas in the front or rear and have the fade all the way to the other? I have had MANY friends do this....

did it go out when you installed the new hu? I assume your amp has power..

Yes, I'm really not sure of how you are not getting any bass. I have what is considered $hit subs and a $hit amp, its all Volfenhag. But you try telling my friends that dont get any bass. As there eyeballs are rattling, and i'm talking pretty clean bass, not all muddy. It dosn't really distort until I put the volume at 28 or above. I have the Alpine 7894 MP3 deck, Its the sheite.

That looks exactly like my deck with i think its called the media expander. And it plays mp3's.

My amp is a 2 channel 600 watt kenwood going into 2 2ohm DVC Pioner IMPP subs.

I dont know then dude. Somthing must be hooked up wrong, thats all I can say. Sorry for being no help, all I was saying is that I have what is considered total $hit, and its pounding my head so damn good durring Waring by Incubus, or Swing Swing by the All- American Rejects and people say I have crap, until they hear or feel it.

When listening, press the volume ****--that should bring you to subwoofer volume, then press either one of the << or >> buttons, this will shift the phase of the sub channel.
Are you using the Onboard Crossovers? If I turn mine off my bass goes down the toilet.

That is true. There are alot of hidden options on these CD/MP3 players nowadays. It could definatley be the settings of the cd player, did you try resetting it, and starting all over new. Just a thought. I would just suggest looking thru the manual, if you don't have a paper copy, get it off of http://www.Alpine.com Website.

I hope that helps a little.
