Don't laugh but a Bazooka just outperformed my Fosgate sub..

I had a Fosgate sub in a custom enclosure that I built in the rear of my ride. I used to build speaker boxes for money and I built this one good with the angle of the glass hatch in mind to maximise bass reflex. I decided to dust off the 10" Bazooka bass cannon (not internally amped) and try it out just for grinns. It produces an unbelievable level of bass and totally blew away my Fosgate (I know, Fosgate is deffinatly not even close to the best sub). I only wish it was a 12". I am running it with a Xtant amp.

Just though I would let you guys know that this is a cheep and excellent alternative to the traditional enclosures. I'll bet the Kicker ones kick some seroius *** .

I have an MTX in a Bazooka tube and it rocks!! I love it. Alot lighter than a box, and sounds better too.

I think it had to do with placement more than the brand of speaker. If you pull the bazooka driver out of the enclosure and examine it next to a Rockford sub, you'll understand why. I've installed 10" tubes down in the well of the car and they absolutely HAMMER. I'm putting one in my 86 this week as a matter of fact. By putting them down in the well, the horn-loading effect is essentially amplified because you're technically creating a longer horn.

hell no i wouldnt doubt it either. My brother had one in his Cougar Xr7 and it produced unbelievably low bass.. it was in the trunk no less!

That is true about the 'hatchback' design, cuz some of my friends swear i have atleast 10"s in my car.. when in fact i only have two 8" pushed by a clarion 400w amp.. that same amp also pushes my 6x9s with some great highs.

OK FiReBReTHa, I guess I am the one that can't tell the difference between good low frequency bass to a less responsive, quiter bass. I guess it dosent matter that I am an engineer either.

I am not quite sure but quite a bit less than a conventional wood box and you really only need one. If I was going to do it agian, I would probibly go with a 12" kicker bass tube. I am not downing the bazooka, I just think the kicker would be even better!
