CD Players

I own a 88 IROC and want to upgrade to a CD player. I would appreciate any suggestions because I am more of a gearhead than stereo person and really don't know what to buy. I was looking in Crutchfield and finding out what fits so for now that is my guide. Thanks for your input.

How much do you want to spend?
Do you want one that will have
a factory fit, 1.5 din, or one
that will require a installation
kit, 1 din?
Any features you are after?
Running amps, or just using stereo
for power?
Answers to these questions may make
it easier for us to help you.

i got a 99 special market Blaupunkt. i do not have mine installed, but i have been told that hve the best Fm tuners available. mine has a very easy wiring harness (out of a 91 z28 ) looks nice and plain and to the point, not like those star trek looking ones. it does have 1 set of pre amp outputs if u want to run amps and u can always run a splitter if u want more then one amp.

just a suggestion, might wanna check out Bluapunkt. www.Blaupunkt.com

I would like to stay in the 250-300 dollar range and would like it to look like it's not to out of place. I will not be running any amps just want to replace the factory stero with something better. I have already updated thr rear speakers to something different. Are the front speakers hard to change? Any suggestions on speakers for the front?

This guy is on EBAY. He has them all dutch so you dont have to bid, the price listed is what you pay. Check his other auctions, he has anything you want at some of the best prices I have found...

Click on the Stereos for link!

Here is a stereo that will fit perfect in your car. It is only $199. It is a pretty decent stereo for that price. Had one in a corvette and did not at all look out of place.

I know a bunch of people might disagree, but I really dig Pioneer decks. I've got one, its a great product for a decent price.

I have an old Eclipse 414. It has that 3rd gen look to it and is a great performer. If you are looking for an understated look, try Nakamichi. They used to make the head units in the Lexus LS400. They will have a CD player in your price range. Also, like Rustang said, Blaupunkt makes a nice understated stereo chassis that is a decent performer as well. Plus, you can save some cash going with Blau over Nak.

Another $.02 down the drain.

It seems to me like you're just out to get a deck that will simply play CDs. You sound like you're not necessarily interested in Earth shattering bass or ultra-high-end equipment. Same with me.

I'd recommend you look at Pioneer. Some may say they are crap, but these tend to be the guys running something a little more than stock. Ya' know what I'm saying?

I've had a Pioneer 1.5 DIN in my IROC for a couple years now and haven't had a single problem.

Although I havent been keeping up with the new decks that have come out this past year. I have always been partial to Eclipse and Pioneer. Currently Im running an Eclipse 5303R.
