NEED HELP FAST!!!!

ok im isntalling my head unit in my car, I hooked all the wires up right, ( red wire on harness to orange factory wire , Yellow to yellow, and then the ground ) Right now the deck will eject CD's but the face wont come on. BUT if I hook the red wire up with the yellow wires it comes on. Is the red a constant or a memory? How can I fix it so it works right? I dont wanna ahe to go and reset all my setting everytime I get in the car, thats a bit of a pain in the *** , do I have to run a wire from the fuse box withg a pig tail/ inline fuse or what? I need to get this done in an hour or so cuz I hae to leave for a dinner. Anyhow thanks for any help.

hey, well, you radio ejects cds without the ignition turned on, so im wondering if your igniton is on when you eject the cd. First thing is to never just match up colors from the radio to the factory, they are 90% wrong half the time. Secondly, get yourself a nice 12v tester. Use that to find out the power and ground. It looks like a little pointy screwdriver, and lights up when you complete a circuit. I used that and within 2 min, i had power to this dudes headunit. I got info in my homepage.

uh Red is constant and Yellow is ignition, also if u cant find good wires, unbolt your steering column and pull out the harnesses at the end of it, theres a THICK pink wire(ignition switched) and a THICK red wire(constant 12v) splice into those and make sure u use fuses at both of those wires so u dont have a melt down or your electrical system, that would be a real bummer

By a freaking wiring harness, its 15 bucks at best buy and will save you alot of hassel, and make it 1000x easier when you get a new heqad unit down the road. Second there is no stock memory wire, trust me. I had to run mine to the ACC fuse. (Acessories)

My appology, I was refering to the wiring harness on the aftermarket deck. On aftermarket harnesses, yellow is always constant, red switched, black ground, blue remote, orange or brown illumination or dimmer

Most people should be using a metra or similar harness rather than cutting off the original harness. That is just bad form and will bite you or whomever buys your car in the a$$ down the road.

I would love to use a harness, but unfortunatley the guy who had my car was a dumbass when it came to stereos, he even cut the antenea off instead of just pulling it out of the back of the deck. Go figure. the IGN. Power is working, So Im gonna runa constant with a in line fuse from the fuse box. that shoudl take care of it.
