If you are going to go to an Edelbrock..you will need to get a non CC distributor...remove or at least unplug the computer, among other things to get it to run good.Do you live in an area that requires emissions testing? If so rebuild the q jet.

you would also have to rig a switch to lock up the TC in 3rd and 4th..

Take into consideration what the first two replies have said. If you are determined to do the swap and properly remove the computer, replace the distributor and address the torque converter issue, then I would think that the model with the electric choke would be best. I just spliced into the existing choke wire for the Q-Jet. You would need to get a adapter to mount the squarebore Edelbrock on a stock spreadbore manifold. But since you will have the dsitrbutor out anyway, you might consider an intake swap if $$ permits and that would eliminate the need for an adapter. The suggestion to rebuild the Q-Jet is a good one. It would probably be the least hassel. Anyway, hope that helps.

Like they have said.

Also, if this is a daily driver, I'd go with an electric choke. Might get tiresome pullin that cable all the time.

Unless you have an export version LG4, you have a computer, even in 1984.

Before I pulled my computer I had a Hypertech chip in my '82. They make them, but since those years are getting old they might not advertise them as much. From what I understand all L69's had computers so you will have one unless someone already yanked the computer before you got the car.

Jegs has a special right now 109 dollars and you get all the gaskets needed for an intake swap and a Edelbrock Performer Intake, I think that was the model offered.
