Torque converter lockup switch

Well I finished the install on my new carb/distributor I took it for a drive man does it run good but I need to know witch converter lockup switch did most of yall use or witch do I need? I have a mechanical speedo, and I was going with the TCI but it does not specify if it’s for mechanical or electric speedo. The B&M does but it is $150.

Thanks

Wich one is better B&M or TCI? Right now my car revs really high then shifts guessing cause transmission is slipping it revs to about 2600 then shifts. From around 1000-1500 it does not accelerate at all just slips. And when I floor it from a dead it sift really early!! Like 3000 is this all cause the TC can’t lock? Also I missing the Throttle kick down stud so I have the throttle and kick down in same place so as of right now it will not change when floored in 3rd gear, and it seems like I am missing 4th gear all together?

That doesn't sound like the TC to me. It sounds more like the TV cable isn't adjusted right. You better fix that ASAP before you burn up the tranny.

That's not misadjusted, that's just plain wrong.

The TV cable has to be pulled out when the throttle cable is pulled in. Get it fixed and cross your fingers that you haven't burned up your clutches already, although it's probably too late.

The cheapest way to do the lockup is to go to the dealer and ask for a 8627332 pressure switch and a 14014519 vacuum switch. The pressure switch lists for about $20 and the vacuum switch for about $40, but you can get them for less.

Those two parts, with a little modification of the factory harness, will duplicate the function of the TCI kit, and are pretty much what was used with the 700R4 on factory non-CC cars and trucks.

TV cable you mean the transmission kickdown cable? yea it's mounted in the same place as the Throttle cable. it still shifts really smooth when it does even know it shifts same rpm no matter if it is floored or jsut accelerating witch is about 3000 on the stock tach and 2600 on the autometer. and if thats not the TV cable can you tell me what it is?? thanks

That's the throttle valve (TV) cable, it combines the functions of the kickdown cable (or switch) and vacuum modulator of older transmissions. Line pressure increases as the cable is pulled out, which causes firmer, later shifts.

If you have it on the same stud as the throttle cable, then the TV cable is retracting as the throttle opens, which will give you hard, late shifts at part throttle and soft, early shifts at WOT. Neither of these conditions is doing your transmission any good. You will destroy the clutches this way.

I brought it back to the shop and had them adjust it but no change. He is reusing the original q-jet bracket can this be my problem do I need an after market bracket? I had bought a spectra kickdown bracket but he said it does not fit my manifold it sits to low?
