Im having a problem when making turns the engine shakes and dies.I stop the car and it will start back up and run fine. I think its the fuel is getting sloshed around and tried raising the floats but it did not help.Is this common with edelbrock carbs if it is what about holleys?

How hard of a turn are you making? What's the float level set at? What's your fuel pressure?

I have had that happen to me before, but only when I was braking real hard and turning at the limits of my tires. Normally even in a hard turn, mine doesn't shut off or stumble.

the floats should be set at 7/16 " just use a drill bit to set it up possibly will fix your prob

At first mine did this too. I lowered the float setting a little from factory spec and installed a fuel pressure regulator. Edelbrock carbs like a steady 6psi fuel presssure.

mine does it all the time too. i wish i knew what my pressure was because im running a v6 efi pump split off into a holley regulator. i was running a edelrace pump in my 85 it worked better.
I didnt get a chance to lower the floats yet where should the drill bit fit under the float the middle or the front edge? Also my mallory regulator sucks every time I start the car its a different psi 5-10 but It could be the 255gph in tank pump.

Edelbrock tuning
As long as you're using a high pressure EFI fuel pump to feed a carbed motor you're going to have problems.
The carbs floats can't handle the pressure spikes reguardless of the regulator used.
get a pump designed to feed a carb. (6psi).
I recommend a Carter P4600HP
No regulator required.
The recomended float setting is a benchmark starting point. I've found that the car runs better with a little lower float setting. Especially around corners.

Ok this is the deal when I switched to carb it was only going to be temporary till I had enough money for a new EFI wire harness,36lbs injectors, wideband set up,and laptop. Now for me money is real tight and the carb is going to stay for a while but the EFI is going to go back on so Im not hacking up the fuel lines for a carb friendly pump. Are holleys as sensitive to fuel pressure as edelbrocks are?I know the way Im doing this is half-*** but it has to be this way.

It does? Then don't blame the carb. After spending even more money unnessessairly for a Holley carb you're still going to get a "half-***" result at best.Originally posted by e-man

You just don't want to crawl under the car.

mines the same setup thats what i was gonna do but only lt1 injected. ran tight so the edel carb stays for now. good luck.I droped the floats and it didnt stall yet so THANKS Ill see what happens this week.F-BIRD'88 whats with the attitude I never touched a carb before. How was I to know if this was normal or not?I just asked a question! This has nothing to do with not wanting crawling under the car.Being under the car is like a second home I LOVE IT!
