LG4 ccc

ok as some of us members know wonderful air care makes us PA ppl get emissions again now my question is i got an LG4 its computer controlled carb, can i swap a regular holley on and still have the computer function the timing and all the emissions junk. All i get is a visual for pcv, cat, egr, evap etc not a computer carb, so will disconecting the carb screw the computer up?

Yes, especially the ignition advance. Why change?

No. And, be careful, the difference between "junk" and "essential" is commonly misunderstood.

As stated above, yes - it will turn the computer brain-dead.

IMHO, disabling/removing the computer on the typical street car is also a brain-dead move. But, that's just MHO.

why i'd change, cuz arent these carbs junk u cant do anything worth while on them.

So anyways basically this LG4 motor is junk cant do anything with it? I I was gunna stick it in one of my parts cars and fix it up, and i wanted to be a little differnt instead of just throwin a 350 in it, but i wanted to keep it within the context of them damn air care laws but i guess i cant put a cam or nothin in it now cuz the dumb computer and junky carb?

The computer, carb and distributor will adapt easily to a change in cubic inches or cam. I've replaced my LG4 with a 350, added vortec heads and a mild cam. It runs well, gets better than 20 mpg and goes quick when I want it to. The computer will tune itself to most combos, much more so than a tpi or tbi setup. It's an extremely simple (basic) system that uses the 02 sensor to optimize the air/fuel ratio for the primary stage and the map/tps to electronically bring in the ignition advance (explained in one sentence or less). The only complaint I've heard is that the ignition advance curve could be more aggressive, but an after market chip is available and I've had no complaints.

More details on how the system works are available through searches.

See sig. LG4's and CC carbs are not "junk".

Start your research here https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=261488 . The first step to passing emissions is getting everything working the way it is supposed to work. The first step in modifying for improved performance is to understand what everything does.
