jet performance q-jet

Anyone have any experience with one of these?, The stage-3

http://www.jetchip.com/fuel/streetmaster750.cfm

I'm committed to running a q-jet

I also just realized this should be on the carb page....sorry 'bout that, it's been a long day.

Okay, we'll do the Tech-to-Carb thing.

(Assume you searched already, right?)

I've got a custom built Stage 3 for my car, specifically tuned for my new heads and cam combo. The engine is not together yet, but from what I've heard the off-the-shelf carbs work OK, but you'd be better off getting it built to suit the engine.

A local guy here has a 383 72 Nova with a custom built Stage 3 and its running very well for the combo. He's got cleaned up Sportsman II's, with a 240ish duration flat tappet cam, Performer RPM intake and it dynoed just shy of 500HP. He claims part throttle response and gas mileage is better than any Holley he's ever used!

As always, comments need to be taken with a grain of salt - both ways. I've never purchased from Jet, although I did talk to them about 6 years ago about rebuilding my q-jet and was basically told to send a blank check with the carb.

Have a look over at the product review board for my comments on a Jet Q-Jet. In short, they screwed it up pretty bad. I would strongly suggest not sending them your money. I paid $360 for a carb that I am just now, after running it for a year, am finally getting it running right. Mine wasn't computer controlled, so I can only imagine how bad they could screw that up. Their head Q-Jet guy left the company awhile back and started his own place. It seems that his replacement doesn't know what he is doing.

His name was Sean Murphy. Try a search on him and I posted some info about his new place. Also has ads in some of the car rags. Although I think I heard one person's feedback on the boards about Sean's place that was not too favorable either. Sorry I don't have any positive info to pass on. Another place to try is the Carb Shop in Ontario California. I've done some buisness with them and they seem to be cool and word is that they know Q-Jets well. They have a pretty good reputation. Don't know about if they do CC Q-Jets however. Good luck.
