383 stroker intake & carb

I am curentley running a 1982 trans AM, I did have a 400ci (but block is cracked) I have just purchased a sbc 383 stroker set up as follows:
383 small-block Chevy stroker motor, 4 bolt mains, Features 10.5-to-1 Keith Black Hypereutectic pistons, GM Pink rods, Clevite bearings, Melling hi-volume oil pump, Prosport damper, Moroso chrome sump, The World Products Sportsman ported iron heads, has 202/160 valves, heavy-duty pushrods, roller rockers and solid lifters and matched springs are part of a Competition Cams 294S kit.
& Hedman headers. Has a built TH350 3:63 gears.

Pleasea advise what would work best: Edelbrock performer RPM air gap manifold and holley 780cfm street avenger carb or Edelbrock Victor Junior manifold, Demon 825cfm carb. Also what kind of horse power & torque do you think would be acheved.

Thanks in advance,

Pete

Re: 383 stroker intake & carb

for what would u be using this car for? street and strip or just straight up strip cuz the performer rpm is a good intake all around but the victor junior is more like a high reving intake for top end stuff i think its a 2500 rpm and up and i think the rpm is a 1500 which is better for street and strip in my opinion thats the set up i wanted to do on a 383 i was gonna build but thats just my 2 cents good luck on whatever u choose to go with sounds like it will be a killer TA for sures

Re: 383 stroker intake & carb

Out of the two intakes you specified I would take the Airgap. I have no experience with either of those carbs so I can't comment on them, my own choice would be for a 650, 700, or 750 mechanical secondary Holley, only because of familiarity with the Holley brand. If you have an auto a vacuum secondary would be an option.

Depends who did the port work. That could really help or hurt you depending on who did it.

Cam specs and head flow numbers would give a lot better guess on what then engine will produce

Re: 383 stroker intake & carb

I will see what i can dig out later to find out some more info on cams ect... I will also see if there is any other details about the carbs, I own both these carbs and thought that instead of getting a new one that one of them would work quite nice!!!
I have tryed to attach some pics of the vehicle (hope it works)

Re: 383 stroker intake & carb

For a street driven automatic transmission, the dual-plane intake is the way to go. I prefer manual secondary carbs myself, but either would work for you.

If you have those carbs already then you can make one of them work OK I'm sure.

I agree. I'd get the Holley and grab a trick spring kit for it. That should help some.

I'm glad you ended up with something you are happy with. What features do you want your ignition to have?

Re: 383 stroker intake & carb

I believe Holley's website would recommend the street avenger and so would I. The vacuum secondaries work well. My car is similar to yours- 350, Dart iron heads, th350, 3.73 gears, 3500 rpm stall.
