ECM 1226865

I have a L69 4bbl CCC.

There are plenty places to buy ECM 1226865, but no where I found to buy an EPROM for this ECM. Any one?

What kind or reader/burner should I look for.

I would go to Craig Moates' site for that stuff.
For a little more you can get an autoprom and have flash/tuning ability along with chip burning/reading.
If it was me I'd do that, get a chip adapter for your ECM so you can run a good re-burnable chip, then download an appropriate bin file to start with from either Moates' bin library, or from another individual who has a similar vehicle to you.
It's moates.net

'305sbc' thanks.

I am new in these stuff, please excuse me if I sound illiterate.

-I tried to go to www.moates.net and got errors.
-I am willing to spent proper amount if need to be, but I do not know what exactly I need to buy so here is my assumption.

1. ECM 1226865
2. EEPROM : still trying to find out which one.
3. Reader/burner: Still trying to find out which one
4. Download correct file

Am I missing anything.

Re: ECM 1226865

Firefox won't go to moates.net. With IE I was successful.

My ECM has no serial data transfer capability as my ALDL interface has no E or M pin.

As an alternative have you considered getting rid of all ECM control?
Depending on where you live it could easily go unnoticed.
The ECM would be doing very little for you anyway.
Another carburetor and a good distributor could end up cheaper than burning a chip.

'305sbc', agree. But not sure what emission system NJ has. Is there a way to find out state rules & regulations.

Re: ECM 1226865

even if it is possible how does ecl goes off when engine starts. Getting rid of ECL will definately fail emission.

When state puts car's id in inspection center does it confirm car has a ecm?

Varies from state-to-state. Some print out what equipment is required, others don't.

Even after my car was emissions-testing exempt, I kept the CC carb. It's a great street performance setup.

You should be able to find out online, possibly the DMV or EPA site for your state.
My state doesn't even check cars as old as yours anymore.

If you are worried about emissions tests, then a CEL is the least of your worries as it's only a light and easily dealt with. If it's a big worry for you then I would check into it very thoroughly before deciding.
If your state is going to do an underhood visual, then you have no choice but to stick with all CC type equipment.

If your state doesn't do underhood visual, but does do a sniffer test, but NOx isn't a consideration, then you would probably pass much easier with non-CC equipment.

To go the route of the chip, then you would look closely at your chip for a broadcast code to determine which .bin file you have (or should have).
You will need to know this when you look for another .bin file.

What is the particular reason why you need another ECM or another chip other than what you have now?

To find out particulars you could just call Craig Moates and he will be able to tell you if he has what you need.

Re: ECM 1226865

MY ECL is up always. When I short AB in ALDL interface it doesn't do anything. When I pull lamp driver module out light goes out. I did cable trace and all looks normal. I am hoping changing to a new ECM will help it. But as I am learniing, new ECM will not come with memory, means i need to find a memory, correct bin file, reader burner....

Hence I am now looking for the memory, once I have the correct memory I would look for correct reader and burner and then the correct bin file. This will be first time ever.

Isnt it better to up grade to a 1228079, its a direct swap. Better software and Diag.

Re: ECM 1226865

I have no problem moving to a different ECM provided it functions, ECL behaves properly and I pass NJ state emission. Here are few of my quest- is 1228079 for CCC?

My ALDL interface has no E or M pin, should I run a wire to E or M pin, or need to rewire my ALDL interface to support new ECM.

Yeah its CCC, you just plug it an go. Also have never seen an LG4 or L69 with pins E or M.
Never seen any one burn a prom for these carb cars..?
I remember back in the day, you plug into the aldl with an Allen diag machine, it would show a full page of info. So there must be some sort of data coming out of the B pin. The others were nothing special.

Find one of those Crane Cams LG4/L69 ECM's. They are pretty trick...
Adjustments on the side for all 3 advance settings/tcc/fan and what not. Also had a little remote to put under the dash, adjust mix/advance/tcc switch control. And some leds, one was mixture, Red lean/yellow middle/green rich.
CC ecm wont do a good job on an emissions test thou, stock ecm was best. < we played around with both.
