Added a vert to the family
Well I finally found a vert. I was not expecting getting one for awhile till funds allowed. So this all started with the IROC. Both the motor and the tranny decided to go on strike the day before the local dyno day. So I parked the car in the back yard till I got around to fixing it. So in the mean time I needed a daily drive. I looked around alittle bit and decided to I was going to get a 95 Toyota tercel from a guy at work next payday. It was cheap and ran great. But one day I got home from work and got the local flyer in the mail. I hardly ever look in there. But just flipped to the cheap cars to take a look. And there it was an add for a 89 RS vert for $400! It said motor runs strong, but car needs work. So I figured it was wrecked or rusted to death. Gave him a call and left a message. Got a call the next day and talked to him. Seemed like a good car. So I went to go look at it. The car was basically solid mechanically wise. All it needed is a water pump and a steering column. It was just cosmetic. Give it a paint job a new top and some interior and it would be fine. So I bought it and got it home. So the old saying if it's too good to be ture really dosen't apply here. lol. So here's some pictures. And I'm sure all ask you guys a lot of questions since I have know clue about the verts. But it's one I have always wanted. Adam :-)

A pepto-bismol Camaro!
Just yankin' your chain man. Who cares what it looks like, if it's a strong running car and it only cost you $400, that's a STEAL!
I'm sure you'll get it looking fantastic in no time

great deal. you definitely got some work ahead of you though. hopefully it doesn't need weatherstipping. right now I haven't seen a kit for under $390 (just for the stuff on the top frame). are you planning on swapping motors? GL

not real hard
mine looks almost perfect one thing to keep in mind is the old saying measure twice and cut once also leave it a little loose and once the glue has dried and cured spray it down with water and apply light heat to it so it shrinks. otherwise if you apply tight it will shrink and start to come loose. I can help you some if you need it over e-mail or pm also I will see if I can find the name of the glue I used I think it was greenweld or something like that high tack adhesive

Here's some updated stuff with the car https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/auto...ml#post3248540. Did a 82 Z28 fiberglass hood, 18x10's TT2's, IROC tail lights, 4th gen T/A seats, and a few other small odds and ends. Next is new cloth/glass window top with tinted windows, some exhust tips, alarm and a 5-speed. that will be next months update. lol. Adam :-)

Great score. There's so much you can do to these cars. I'm thinking of taking on a a 1LE, B4C, or vert project one of these days. I've always owned clean stockers and am too afraid to mess them up.

top looks good, but it also looks stretched out.
you should try buffing out the car it looks like you could to most of it at least.
