Passenger door window gap

So I’ve been adjusting the door windows, got the drivers door nicely adjusted but the passenger door is causing problems, it seems to be quite good everywhere except at the rear of the window, with the window parallel to the seal there is a gap, the only adjustment I know of will tilt the window in or out, the top will seal but to bottom will still have a gap, I’m wondering if the convertible top could be the problem?? Seems to look ok, nothing bent or broken or loose. Can the side window be adjusted to bring the glass closer to the seal without changing the angle?

Re: Passenger door window gap

Hows the weather strip look? Sometimes they go a little flat and wont contact the glass.
How far up (towards the back) does the glass go? Got a side shot? It can be adjusted rearward.
Does the door stick out, even a little? Is it flush with the qtr panel?

Re: Passenger door window gap

The door does stick out a very small amount near the top , about from the door handle to top of door, the rest is quite flush, seems it may have a slight twist but really not enough to cause the amount of gap in the window. It is adjusted rearward enough. Could be the seal has flattened but seems similar to the drivers side. I’ll have a closer look at the seal tomorrow and I’ll also add a pic or 2. Any ideas if that seal is available on its own?

Yes, I believe you can get the rear seals as a pair. If the door is fine and it sounds like it is. Then the only thing I can think is the rearward adjustment.

Re: Passenger door window gap

The rear vertical seal seems to be flattened, i ordered a set, comes with 2 vertical and 2 top pieces. Not cheap, all said and done with tax shipping etc $405.00 Canadian. I will update ina couple weeks if it solves the problem which I’m sure it will as the seal is good all around the door except the back. My fingers are crossed

I cannot see a lot fron that one picture from the rear, because I can't see the seal, but your car looks nothing like mine.....and I can use high pressure water and it doesn't leak....

Yes ... You can angle the glass in more ... It done using the track mounting studs...push the bottom ones out more .... Have two verts and adjusting the glass is a pain ... So many moving parts.... Just replaced all the weatherstripping on my 88 vert....but that has it's own issues with the top pieces not mating the side ones well... Has to modify them for a better fit .

As I avoid the rain ... I don't lose too much sleep... Just I do like a tight fit with the glass to avoid the noise

Re: Passenger door window gap

I have angled the glass in more on the top of the glass but the bottom still has a gap on the rear edge. I changed the rear seal but didn’t make any difference. I have to take pictures to be able to explain the issue better, but having a beer and watching hockey playoffs so will have to wait.

Re: Passenger door window gap

This is the gap I’m having problems with but I believe the vertical seal is not sitting right at the bottom if I compare with drivers side.

Vertical seal is not sitting right and not mating with the rubber block , compared to drivers side in next pic.

What is behind the small corner seal?
Also what is twisting the widow seal at the bottom?
Is there old weather strip under both seals. If so it needs to be cleaned out.

Re: Passenger door window gap

Thanks for all your reply’s. So this is really making me scratch my head. I’ve readjusted the vertical seal so it sits better in the track and overall when the door is closed, I adjusted the complete top forward about an 1/8 inch on that side, it was slightly off along the front of the top and the windshield, now it’s parallel but didn’t help the gap in the side window. My next thought is to adjust the door in a bit at the latch, it is slightly off and could be pulled in a bit, problem is the striker bolt is not adjustable , the hole in the body will have to be slotted a bit so it can be adjusted in a bit. I don’t think I’ll be able to adjust it enough to close the gap. I don’t know what I’m missing , I’m wondering if the car was accidented on that side but there is no evidence of it. The troubleshooting will continue and ideas would be appreciated thanks.

Re: Passenger door window gap

The problem is mostly related to that seal twisting at the bottom, more than the door sticking out at the top.
