lg4 converting to 1 elec fan.

now my car has a clutch fan that is a little tight and never engages. i have a single electric fan set up from a h.o. car. thinking of swapping it over with a hayden 3651 ( screw in temp sensor, adjustable and has provision for a/c trip. sounds like a simple way to go electric with only one relay. i want this to be simple. if i go 170 thermostat and adj the relay for 170-190 do you think ill have any overheating problems??? keep in mind my cars an 82 so there is no ecm control for the fan.......what do you guys think.

I have the dual fans in mine (was an LG4), using the hayden "probe". 170 thermo.

Works pretty good Id think the single fan would be "ok"

I'll sell ya dual fans with new GM parts for a reasonable price. 2 new GM motors, 4 blades (2 new), 2 Y motor supports, lower brace and 2 new pigtails. You just need to buy a new upper shroud (had to mod mine for a Be-Cool rad). Make me an offer.

No it will burn up, not right away but over time. Like when your on the interstate 100 miles from home. Besides you will get more cfm using two relays and they are cheap.

Yes you can use the hayden relay... but you will need 2 SPST relays. Have the hayden activate the 2 relays.

(Im guessing the hayden relay is a temperature controller?)

I'm running a Perma-Cool electronic fan control module with adjustable temp (160-210) plus two of thier electric fan relays.
The fans come on at 180 or whenever the cold ac is running and the car has never reached 220 again
