Big Issue!

Ok, so i bought a 1985 camaro a month or two back, great condition, rebuilt engine, and shaved engine bay. Only problem is that the guy had removed anything and everything to do with the heater out of the engine. Does anyone know where i can buy a whole new heater assembly? or i heard talk about an electric heater system? any help would be appreciated.

Re: Big Issue!

You mentioned shaved - has he removed the heater core and filled in the 2 firewall holes for it? If so, you'll have to redrill those, and not only get the heater box/blower motor for the engine bay, but you might need the box under the dash that holds the heater core in place on the inside. Better crawl up under that dash and see what's there first.

Re: Big Issue!

there are elect. heaters made for use on 12v. systems . they are used in construction/heavy equip. ect. . nothing you would want to use in a 3rd gen. . DO NOT TRY THEM . good luck .

If it's all gone it may be easier to move to Florida if you want to be warm!

Re: Big Issue!

sorry it took so long to reply, the car isn't up at school with me. But the two firewall holes are still there, he must have either redrilled them or not covered them. Also i'm pretty sure the box under the dash is still there.

Re: Big Issue!

you need to figure out whats there and what isnt. If the heater core is still there and just not hooked up, its simply a matter of getting a proper heater box and blower motor, wiring it up, and hooking the core back up. If its all hacked out, you may have to get a new heater core.

you may also have to replace the heater control wiring and vacume lines if htey are gone too, but again, you need to know what you have/dont have first

I've got the service manual for mine, with adequate diagrams of
all components. I'm not gonna clog up this thread, but if you need
something like that, PM me, & I'll scan the pages, and send as jpegs.
