I know this ain't right!

Yet another example of the previous owner's half a**'d ways.. I'm no ASE certified tech but I know this ain't stock!

I'm going to post an ad for a reservoir but I don't know where it's mounted. Anyone have a pic of it installed so I know where it goes when I get one?

1986 IROC 305 TPI..

Thanks!

Re: I know this ain't right!

reservoir sits to the left passenger side of the rad on the fender well, above the battery.

Based on some wear marks in the paint I thought that's where it might go..thanks!

Yeah the reservoir is on the passenger side probably even a silhouette of where it used to be too. That rig he did is fine as long as it doesn't leak.

I found one and it will be on it's way soon. I want it done right. Plus the radiator hoses suck in so bad they are flat after I shut off the engine.

Well you'll know that when you hook it up it will work then. I am not sure what my reservoir is from because the previous owner installed a different one. It's smaller than the factory but I like that because I have a reservoir still but it isn't massive. The stock tank is pretty big and takes up a lot of space. I think the diverter valve sits right next to it and is super cramped because of it unless you 're route it.

that "rig" is not fine at all.. the coolant needs to expand into something when it gets hot.. that bolt plugging the hose will just let the coolant pressure build up until the pressure finds the weakest point, which if you're lucky would be that hose and either the heater core, radiator core, a radiator hose, or a head gasket of you aren't lucky... if nothing else, just put a longer hose on it and run it into the bottom of a water bottle or something like that zip tied to something so that the top of it is at a level close to even with the top of the radiator and put enough coolant in it to cover the end of the hose with the engine dead cold... that will act as a catch can/expansion tank that may or may not have enough capacity to keep the radiator nice and full of coolant until you can get a properly sized tank for it.

Here's a pic of where the reservoir goes and you can see how the hose is ran. Hope that helps.
