OK. I'm no beginner but this has me feeling pretty dumb. 1987 IROC with TPI has the V-belt setup. AC belt also powers the PS pump. I know the crank pulley is lined up properly because none of the other belts are having issues. There's really no way to adjust the AC or PS for alignment. If I'm looking at this correctly once the crank pulley is lined up right the others should be too? But the AC/PS belt twists every damn time. It doesn't jump off. it just twists. Who can help me with this? Thx

Are all your pulleys located on the inside of the circle that the belt makes? And do all your pulleys have a v-groove in them? Or is there a smooth pulley , or riding on the backside of the belt? Just kind of double checking your belt routing.
I have any 87, so I just went out and looked to see how a belt might get twisted, and it looks like there's only one way for that to happen, assuming you're using the correct type of belt, that is. So if all of the pulleys are installed and aligned correctly, and you're using the correct type of belt, then it would seem that the only way the AC belt could twist during rotation is if the belt isn't in the correct groove in each of the pulleys on which it circulates. I realize that's stating the obvious, so I don't mean to be insulting by mentioning that.
The PS pulley circulates TWO belts. Yours does, right? If not, and it only has one groove, then it's been replaced incorrectly, and that's probably where the problem is beginning, because that one groove is probably located where the rear groove is in the correct pulley. The AC belt should be in the front groove in the PS pulley, then over to the rear groove in the WP pulley, then down to the middle groove in the crank pulley. If it's not in each of those grooves, or your PS pulley only has one groove(located where the rear groove is on the correct pulley), then it would get twisted.

I already had this problem, belt twisted = cause bad alignment of compressor A/C
V-belts are always on the inside. You're thinking of a serpentine belt.
Yes, all the belts are in the proper grooves. And since the other belt on the PS pump doesn't jump or twist I have deduced that the PS must be aligned to the crank pulley properly. The problems seems to be isolated at the AC pulley. I think Bavooz Flo is correct, which I have suspected all along to be the problem. But I cannot get the AC to align. Anybody know if there is a specific procedure or sequence to do it?
