Give me a day or 2 and I'll post a drawing of the circut board I made for mine, all you'll have to do is make one that looks just like it and add the components.

wow man, thanks, I guess my search didnt find that post. I'll buy the parts today and maybe make it tonight!

One more question, do you know if there is anything that would stop me from permanantly connecting the cable (maybe soldering the wires on behind the connector) The computer will be in the car, and I'd love to be able to just launch a program and see instead of having to hook up a cable every time.

Well if you have an 86, as your name implys, then you could leave it hooked up or spliced in, BUT you'd need to take the 10k resistor off of pins A&B for normal driving (the 10k resistor you need to get the ECM to transmitt ALDL data).

so take it off and leave it off permanantly and it will still work, and work all the time?

I don't see why not. I don't need the 10k resistor to get data. I spliced the aldl lines into a headphone connector and mounted it in my dash. I don't need to do anything other then plug in the cable to the connector and I'm up and ready to go.

I don't know if you will need the resistor or not but if you do you might be able to wire it in with a toggle switch or something so that with the switch in one possiton it has the resistor and in the other it doesn't

Good luck and if you have questions ask.

With the 165 ecm you have to have the 10k resistor across pins A&B to get the ECM to transmitt serial dats (the ALDL stream)
And I believe that when the resistor is in place the knock retard function is inop.
