Downloaded TunerPro RT, Ostrich still wont work

I am working on an 89 GTA that is converted to speed density. An 8D chip works just fine, and I'm able to burn it the old way with no problems. However, when I hook up the ostrich, open the same bin file, open the 8D xdf file, upload the bin to ostrich, turn on emulation, turn off the checksum in preferences, and the car just sits there in limp home mode. I've gone thru the options and preferences I can see, made sure it was set to 32k mode, bank 0.

What am I missing???

EDIT: I am able to use the datalogging feature in TunerPro RT using my AKM cable, so I know that much is working.

Could be something is wrong? If you want to get with me offline, I can walk through some stuff with you and repair/replace if necessary.

I have found I need to have the key on to send info to the ostrich and have it verify correctly. If no I get an error particularly in verificaiton.

I went through the same thing when I first started using mine. Just as you said to get it to work. Now there are two different documents for the Ostrich on Craigs site that should be of some help to everyone. IE: there is a mod to allow the first gen units to allow " key off" downloads.

Once you get it working though you'll really like it.

I tried it with both key-on and key-off. Still no luck.

If you can't upload and verify with the Ostrich disconnected from the ECM, then there's a problem. Repair or something needed. Just let me know, and I'll get you taken care of.

I think this is an issue with my pocket romulator. In a few ecm's I can't upload to the romulator with the header plugged into the ecm . It appears to work according to TunerPro but when I verify it says error. Sounds as if a transistor is missing in my hardware version that turns off the power to a pin . In anycase, my biggest battle has been that of using a laptop with no battery . Switching between extension cord to power inverter isn't easy. Especially when the person cranks the engine over and the power inverter powers down. Thank G0D for hibernate in XP.
Back on subject, Craig, is the AutoProm the same way? Maybe I have an older version of the hardware and that's why I could never get it to emulate and datalog?
When the weather gets warmer I'll be able to test it out some more. Right now I'm in hibernate "mode."

The newest version of the AutoProm firmware (available for download) will fix the simultaneous datalogging challenges, particularly on the 160 baud.

As for not being able to upload/verify with the emulator connected, this should be possible. If not, then a slight mod or fix on the emulator should work. If using 24-pin emulation, make sure the jumper is set accordingly on the emulator.
