new 730 bin doesnt let car start
i tried helping a buddy out with his 730 ecm powered tpi car.
I downloaded the super aujp.bin, opened it with tunerpro, seleceted my 8D.XDF file, made minor changes (injector rate, and pulled out about 6 degrees timing total.)
then i saved the file under a different name and then opened flash n burn, and burned the bin to the chip and we plop it in his car, and it wont start. just cranks.
did i do this right for a 730 car? cuz for my own maf 165 ecm car, thats what i do and it alawys works, i dunno if its something to do with the .xdf file or what.

Wont start just cranks kinda screams VATS issue to me.
Is it turned off or is it on in the chip? Did it function correctly on the car in the first place?
Whats the security lite doing and the CE lite?
Also, sometimes u just get a bad burn or something gets corrupted and u need to simply reburn it
later

if he turns the ignition key on, would the ses light be doing anything unusual?
vats is disabled, this is a 91-92 vette tpi and ecm thrown into an old nova.
also i thought vats was disabled, maybe im wrong, i think i didnt touch the vats issue.
theirs a whole bunch of vats names under the flags box, says
switch 16 (VATS TCC-R 4th NO VATS OLP)
should any of these be checked? none of them are.

I think we stumbled onto something here. You need to "stack" the bins within the chip to fill up the whole chip, or just put the bin at the top of the memory, instead of the bottom.

How are you burning a 27C512 with the Flash & Burn? This chip is not supported for burning. Only reading.
Or are you burning to a different chip and reading from a 27C512?

Im not fond of the 512's.
But if thats all you have then must change the start address and end address of the burner so it knows where to put the info. With the 512 you are burning 256kbits of data onto a 512kbit chip. Thats leaving 256kbits of empty space. If you dont specify where to burn that 256kbit of info, more than likely the computer is trying to read the 256kbits of empty space on the chip.
Just remember your always working on a "decimal" system of 8.
512Kbits/8bits=64kb (64kb/2=32kb) You put 2 of the same bins on that chip and the computer wont be reading from the blank spaces b/c you ahve the chip filled aka. Bin Stacking
256kbits/8bits=32kb <---same file size as a 7730 Binary file (TPI $8D)
128kbits/8bit=16kb <---same file size as a 165 Binary file (TPI $6E)
64kbits/8bit=4kb <---same file size as a 8746 binary (TBI $61)
Real informative:

I'm sorry, its the 27sf512 from moates, with th burner and software, and when you choose the correct chip in the flash n burn software, i had the impression it already set up the chip addressing and buffer addressing, at least it works ok for my 165 ecm chips i burn for it. do i need to change the address manually for 730 ecm'd chips?

ok thanks ill check that out.
also though back to the vats issue, under all the flags, do any of those that start with VATS need to be checked or no?

Un-check it to disable VATS in the ECM.
