Finding 2732A chips. Please check this site for me

I want to burn some chips and not mess with the stock chip other than the initial read. I know most of you are running the 256k chip for your TPI cars but not much reference to the 2732A that my 8746 ECU uses. This site has 3 different 2732A chips will any of these work. https://www.jameco.com/cgi-bin/ncomm...xt.x=28&Next.y =9

The chip burning 101 states that the 8746 ECU uses the 2732A prom chip but doesn't say anything about voltages and speed.

Any of those 2732's will work. The programming voltage depends on your programmer - you just select 25v for the 2732, 21v for the A or 12.5v for the B version. All three are available on most programmers.

Of the 2732A's listed on that page, the cheapest has a 450 ns access speed and that is plenty fast enough. Paying more for the faster -20 (200 ns) or -25 (250 ns) chip is a waste in this application. $3.95 isn't a bad price, either.

Speed isn't an issue.
Neither is the programming voltage as long as you know what it is.

Astro Market in FL used to have used eproms for $1-2 a pop depending on how many you buy.
I just always went the cheap used route and ordered plenty. Couple are always junk but at a $1 a peice you can afford that vs $3-4.

Does Astro Market have a website? My attempts at locating chips on ebay has thus far been unsuccessful.

ebay for sure, just make sure you don't get AMD. They are wider and won't fit in your stock eprom plastic holder. I don't really care since I have a zif socket. I just got 10 for $15, not bad, 5 AMD and 5 intel 2732a eproms. They're brand new and work. Just use ebay for the best prices.

I widened my search on ebay and found some but none lists programming voltages. I just ordered my pocket programmer so I don't know much about that area yet.

JPREVOST I know you use the 8746 computer. I have seen your posts since I joined early on. What editor do you use to modify your bin. I have just been reading forums and Traxions prom burning intro before I jump head first into this thing. I thought I would start tweaking my mostly stock engine before go drop in my big 400hp mega monster and can't get it to even idle.

I ordered 5-2732a from Jameco. 2 wouldn't work. Emailed them about the defective ones and never got a reply.

I never had a problem with any of my eproms. I did ruin one of them but that was my fault. I left it in the UV light for too long and the darn thing hated me.
As for the software I use, TunerCat. By far the easiest software to tune a bin with. It does everything automatically, even compare bins to each other! I was thinking about getting the definition file (tdf) editor but it wouldn't be worth the money since he's been updating the 8746 ($61) tdf files.
Definatly start with a stock engine with stuff like open element. Play with the tables one at a time! At first I was doing 10 things at once and playing with them, by the time I ran into a jam I had no idea what I had done to cause the car to run the way it did.

I just went to a junkyard and jacked a bunch of Fiero and older FBody chips out of the ECMs. Most of them are 2732s and they work just fine.

Thanks guys,

I found some 2732D's on ebay and was asking the guy about 2732A's. He had 40 A's that he hadn't listed yet so I offered him $.75 a piece for them. Should arrive in a week. I figure at that price I could have a few bad ones and not care.

On the Tuner Cat software. Is there a charge for updated definition files?

We might have been talking to the same guy. He thought the difference between the A and the D was program voltage A's are 21 and D's are 25.

He then listed 20 of the A's at a "Buy it now" price of $16. They be mine!!! If I end up with a few bad I still OK. Heck, I ordered 5 from Jameco and two never did work.
