Re: Caprice chips

I will assume the ECU is same on both? I dont see how a different stock chip could be better? That chip is specific for the gearing, weight, intake, trans, cold start etc etc etc. If the truck is modified then you need to retune. I did the opposite as I ran a stock truck .bin 350 cid in my 84 vette day one of ECU swap. It did not run very well.

Re: Caprice chips

Chips are specific for the vehicle as well as specific for the engine in same and trans and the Kalifornia thing and maybe gears and maybe outside USA. ECU are for a broader range of vehicles. Now some of use will use a ECU that was not intended for use in our vehicle. I used a 7747(truck ECU) in my 84 Vette and burned a few chips to get it to run right. I now run aftermarket ECU.

The TBI Caprice never ran an E-trans, your Suburban did. The ECM and Chips are not compatible.

Re: Caprice chips

they would probably be tuned relatively similar. both are heavy vehicles and require low end torque over top end power.
that being said, the transmission will make it impossible to do.
you would be better off getting a chip burned for you

Re: Caprice chips

thanks for the info guys and i agree with the chip thing also...but i cant justify getting all the stuff and the $$ spent and the time it would take just learning how to do it correctly just for one chip for my truck...
