Re: new chip problems?

Wrong EPROM, or inserted wrong.

The flashing CEL is indication that the EPROM is bad, not correct application, or inserted wrong, and is in limp home mode.

Unless its been changed to a 28 pin solder in d2 the prom will be in a Robinson nugent holder and can only go in one direction.

So now the ses light is just flat on and still high idle

Re: new chip problems?

The prom notch allways goes towards the notch of the holder. If the mil is on check for codes. I have never put a prom in backwards it could be fried.

Re: new chip problems?

Unfortunately, once inserted backwards, a ROM chip will always be fried. It's something you definitely have to double check every time you plug them in.

To say it is an absolute is not correct. While the EPROM is often damaged when inserted backwards, it is not always the case.
