I've owned my car for over a year now and never once had any problems with my charging systems, until today. I got off work today and parked my car at my house, about an hour later I went to go to the store and the battery was completly dead!

Nothing was left on and now the dome light barely comes on. I tried to charge it/jump it and it wont hold any charge.

What could have caused this ? I've never had a battery go out like this.... Thanks

I had a Dodge Caravan that did the same thing. Everything fine and then all of a sudden dead, and won't charge. I replaced the battery and never had another problem. I didn't think batteries could die that fast either.

 

Yeah, I would say you need to replace the battery because it sounds like it shorted itself out internally. I've experienced this to only mine went dead in about 5 minutes.</p>

 

That same thing with the battery just happened to my uncle, his battery just died. No way to explain it, it just died. The only thing you can do is go out and get another one.

 

This happened to me too... I replaced the battery, but found that it did it again! So I replaced the alternator, and cleaned the battery cables at the battery and the block, and started of build-up from when the car was built, and now I have no problems with a dead battery.

 

Replace it, it's bad.

You didn't do anything to cause this, it's just the 100+ deg temps we've been having lately.

I replaced my battery last week, and there were 5 other people in the store at the same time to get batteries. I asked the counter guy what was up and he told me that the day before, he sold 30 batteries! He said the heat is killing them, and I believe him.

I replaced it tuesday and havn't had a problem since, so I guess It just died. Thanks anyway

My battery died two days ago, it was three months old. I got a new one under warranty.

Hmm.. heat killing a battery.. I don't see how that could happen, its always hot under the hood when the car is running.
