I have a 91 RS that's becoming useless to me. For the past 2 days it went into security mode when I tried to start it. I got it working again both times but I'm really getting sick of it. Any ideas on what is causing it or how to fix it? Thanks for any imput.

 

It is probably a broken wire inside the steering column that goes to the lock cylinder. USe a multimeter to measure the resistance value of the pellet, then put the key in the lock cylinder and disconnect the wire harness coming from the steering column to a two wire (black/white & purple /yellow)connector. Again measure the resistance value the wire connector at the steering column. If the value is different, your problem is either a broken wire, bad contacts in the lock cylinder or worn contacts on the key. If the value is the same, your problem is elsewhere in the circuit.

 

I don't think that's the problem. My security light doesn't stay on. The ignition enable relay looks fine too so I'm thinking it might be something else. Any ideas?????
