Is there a way to test a cd box with a multimeter?

crap
I have one I want to sell. People want to know if it works obviously, I don't know how to test it. I never hooked one up either. Is there anyway to test one? Installing is one way if I knew how.

alright check your documentation (should either be in the manual for it, or some brands a sticker right on the chassis of the deck) Take the constant and switched power(should be red and yellow more than likely) and touch them to the possitive terminal of a cars battery, Obviously ground the ground(black), then hit the power button... You can do this just to verify it works but you would have to have a speaker hooked up to it if you need to verify output. Also make sure all the loose wires in your harness arent touching if you decide to do this.

Anyways hope this helps, and by cd box hope you are talkin about your head unit (no way to test with voltmeter).

He's talking about a Capacitive Discharge ignition box, like an MSD, not a Compact Disc player.

If its an MSD box its easy to test.

Hook it up top power with a coil, and touch the white wire to ground, should spark.

It is a mallory, it has 8 wires coming out of it. One hole has black, red, green and yellow coming out and the other has a black, red and two lighter gauge wires that are black and green.
