GM color codes (Steering column)

Can any of you guys help me out with the wiring diagram for an 86 T/A column? I was also wondering what the metal tubes that run along the steering column are for. Airbags maybe? Thank you,

Jimmy

The only wiring inside the steering column is the turn signal switch assy, the pivot switch assy, and the multifunction lever that fits in the pivot switch assy. On the outside of the steering column, you have the ignition switch assy and the dimmer switch assy. BTW, airbags weren't put in the steering columns until 1990

Thanks, I don't know a whole lot about F bodies and was taking a guess about the airbag

I bougt the column for my nova and need to know what the color coding on the harness outside of the column. There are I believe two large plugs ( can't remember it's out in the garage). Any idea what the tubes are for, I wouldn't mind getting rid of them if they aren't needed?

No problem jimmy, here is a breakdown of the steering column that will explain better than me trying to type it all out.

Thanks once again. Boy do I feel even dumber now that I actually went out to the garage and took a look it's obvious. The rods are for the ignition switch and the dimmer switch. How about those color codes any help? Thanks again,

Jimmy

Hey fellas, I'm just finding this site anyways I got a 92 k1500 and my key is broke off in the ignition it still turns just looses power sometimes so my plan is to turn it to unlock the wheel and I'm wiring in a race car ignition kill switch push button crank and acc switches to "heat up" the electrical system and crank it obviously but the question I can't seem to find an answer for anywhere is when hardwiring the panel to the ignition harness there are 2 12 red hot wires in that harness I know they are both constant hots. It does it matter which one I hook too I don't see why it w would I'm just tryin to keep issue down to a minimal
